2021 License plate bracket doesn’t fit standard license plates?!

Am I the only one who went to hang my license plate only to find the bracket is narrower than all 50 states standard license plate holes ? Wth! 7” are standard license plate holes yet my bracket is 5.5” and you can’t move it ??? I guess I just drill a new hole in my license plate ?

The bolts look like they will slide outward if you loosen them

Agree with above poster, looks like the screws can be slid farther apart.

If not, rather than drilling new holes, I'd get a wire or even zip ties and just wire it through the holes.

Or, there is space on the ends of those slots, you could put a new bolt, nut, and lock washer in there rather than drilling holes.

Looks like you can cut the slots longer about 1/4" on each end and get the length you need. But, yeah, looks like an oops to me.

Nothing in that bracket slides. If it is designed to they proflexed it so much it doesn’t move.

I know I’m just a country boy but I can’t believe they have made probably thousands of license please brackets that don’t fit. This isn’t the only one. The mold to make that bracket cost thousands if not tens of thousands and no one checked it???

I have the same/similar bracket and the screws do move. Remove the screws and slide the nuts to align to the plate and attach the screws.

Pleased to report my license plate frame is hung. Those holes do slide, they were proflex sealed so much around them they wouldnt slide but after a little screw driver work got them to go. at their full extension they fit the standard 50 state plates. DUH for me. This put my mechanical skills to the test.

If it makes you feel better the guy that installed our plate at Lazy Days in Tampa fiddled with ours for 20 minutes and he does them all the time. He ended up having to replace the bolts entirely. Took several trips to his "box of tricks" on his golf cart.

I'm glad you figured it out and didn't have to drill holes into anything. Sometimes even some of the simples things can confound even the wisest of the wise. It's how we all learn about our campers, one item at a time, trial and error, and one goof up after another. We never finish learning, we are all just constantly "beginning."
