Hanging clothes to dry

We are just finishing up a 2 month trip on our boat and today the admiral (DW) asked me where she can hang the clothes that don’t go in the dryer to dry when we start using the camper in the fall and winter. We currently hang those on the bridge and open the enclosure a little so that it doesn’t get so humid from the wet /damp clothes while drying. We would never hang the clothes in the cabin areas of the boat because of the moisture issue it could cause. I am assuming the trailer should be treated in the same way. Regular campgrounds shouldn’t be a problem to hang them outside, but 2 of the 3 RV parks we will be staying at this winter have a “no clothes hanging at your site” policy. I was thinking of maybe an expandable closet rod in the back seat area of the truck to hang her blouses and my shirts for the couple of hours it takes to dry, which are usually the things she hangs. Thoughts?

An expandable closet rod, above the edge of the shower enclosure from one end to the other, will work great for hanging wet clothes to dry, and you can turn on the exhaust fan to remove moisture as you would when showering. When dry, remove the rod so the shower can be used. Something like this would work. https://www.amazon.com/TEECK-Adjusta...%2C343&sr=8-28

I made a rod that is attached to the sky light in the shower. You already have screws in the outside of the light so I made some L brackets with 1/2 inch holes and put a 1/2 inch aluminum rod in them.

If you want to push the "No Outside Clothes Drying" and check their local ordinances. Our park had that same rule, until someone pointed out they was a local ordinance that prohibited such a rule because drying clothes outside is an "Energy Saver" and could not be prohibited.

You can make a laundry rack out of plastic plumbing pipes that hangs on your ladder. We have one that someone made for us, but I’m sure the instructions are online. The shower idea with the expandable rods is also excellent, especially if it’s raining. I do this sometimes myself. Campgrounds can prohibit you from tying ropes on the trees.

I've made drying racks that fit in our showers on both our rigs. Just cut pvc pipe to fit using a four way fitting near the middle and notch out the ends to fit over the shower walls so that it holds the other side against the wall and it sits on the edge of the shower enclosure.

Thanks for the tips. I guess I didn’t think about the shower area. The showers are small and the vents are low in the heads on the boat. Best ventilation is done by opening a porthole. The shower rod/rack idea should work fine.

I got clothes rod end caps and screwed them to the walls just above the shower enclosure. Then we use a standard clothes rod dowel to hang the clothes on. When not in use, the rod stores in the closet. However, with the recently installed washer/dryer, hanging clothes happens less.
