New idea? New idea for improving tension rods for retaining "stuff" in cabinets.

Probably been done before, but we have some cabinets too wide for single bar (e.g. 4 door over couch) and others that are too full to fit behind the faceframe. So this was my MacGiver for today. Is this a new idea? The foam helps maintain position between the stiles of the faceframe (maybe protects the finish a little too). Last photo is inside of cabinet.

Looks like a winner there!

We don't have any problems with our cabinets, but our refrigerator was another story.

My solution for the refrigerator was to use those expandable shower curtain tension rods from Wall Mart. These are the short ones. A quarter turn twist and they unlock. Pull them to the length you want, nice and tight, then do a quarter turn twist and they lock in place. Turn a bit more and they get even tighter. I chose the white ones because they match the interior of the refrigerator and actually look like they belong.

In the medicine cabinet, I have the old style RV tension cabinet rods. They are much shorter, but work well there. We keep everything else in small plastic tubs so nothing jumps out when you open the door after traveling.
