California roads

We are finally getting out of CA, the roads on california in some areas are so bad, I'll never come back here again the I5 from the grapevine going north is disgusting, if you like your rig don't go to California especially the I5.

Last time we drove in Cal. I found old 99 was a good ride. We plan to use it on our trip to Jackson.

A couple of years ago, California roads were rated the worst in the nation.

A couple years ago on our trip out there we experienced some of their horrible roads. Being originally from Illinois I didn't think anyone could have worse roads than us, but I was wrong. I am glad we were able to visit all the sights we wanted during that trip because the Monte won't be back.

In our 2012 travels west, we got pounded to bits on old 99. We stayed off of I5, and found 101 north of San Francisco to be better than most of the others. We finished our 4 months with a bent axle on the trailer, and I blame California for most of it.

We drove down on 101 from the north to Ukiah a couple of week ago and it was fine.. Yesterday we drove part of 99 down to Fresno and it beat the crap out of us.. Wife was not a happy camper as we chipped one of her dishes and scattered cinnamon all over in her baking cabinet... California roads are the worst we have been on for quite a while..

We are planning a trip down the west coast this fall. Sounds like I'm going to have my dentist check for loose fillings. Hope Oregon and Washington have better roads

We had no complaints about the roads in Oregon and Washington, nor in BC or Alberta. California, Manitoba and Saskatchewan a whole other story!

Being raised in California I can tell you that we have the most in road taxes and we get the least in road repairs. Pay about .75 cents for every gallon of fuel sold for road repair. Would love to know where all that money goes. John if you need to go north in that area again take the 99. Its a little bit better because it goes thru city areas. Cal-Trans likes to set up cones in the morning and then they take them down in the afternoon. We never see them working.

I was stationed in northern California (Beale AFB) from 1968 until 1971, and spent some time on 99. I swear to you that after our 2012 trip, I do not believe that any maintenance was done on that road since I left in 71!!

Just got back from a 10,000 mile road trip to the east coast and back with my other RV a PT Cruiser convertible and a Little Guy teardrop trailer. I'll take my California roads anytime over the ones in the rest of the US.
