Electrical question about no neutral

When we visit some musical friends, we park next to their drive-in shed. There's a Lincoln arc welder that connects to an old-fashioned 3-prong 50A connector. To get air conditioning in the summer, I want to make an adapter form the 3-pin to the 4-pin connector for the Monty. I have found and bought the connectors. I'm thinking that bonding the neutral and ground together will work fine to get two hots and a return path and won't cause issues with the trailer wiring. Any thoughts from the electricians in the group? Of course, anything I do is my own responsibility.

I did that for many years and never had a problem. Make sure the electric neutral is at ground potential and it will work

I do sort of the same thing, ran a line that plugs into a Welder outlet with the neutral and ground bonded together at the outlet. Problem I had, my EMS wouldn't let power through until I added a ground rod right next to the RV outlet post. Now works like a champ.
