Electric outlet problems - next!!
We arrive at the campground and all of the outlets on one side will not work. I believe they are daisy chained to a gfci which will not reset. DW said when we arrived and she entered the rig there was water from the sink faucet across the sink counter that she had to wipe up. The gfci outlet that i believe is the culprit is by the front door and is beneath the sink. I need to know the proper course of action to take, hair dryer?, replace the outlet. The bad part is one of the outlets that is inoperable is the coffee pot outlet. This is not good since DW is a fervent coffee drinker. I will use an extension cord for immediate relief and see if the gfci dries overnight. Tomorrow I would appreciate knowing the recommendations of the MOC on the steps to hopefully remedy the situation.

Bingo, It may dry out and work but my old unit had a receipt get a little water in it and corroded up just a bit. It shut the whole line down. The way they are put together is terrible. They are daisy chained but they just split the wire and snap it together. You may be able to pull it apart and clean it up. Good luck.. JP

110V GFCI outlets are pretty common and can usually be purchased at any Lowes, Home Depot or similar stores. EZ to replace.just be sure to have breaker off and power disconnected before replacing. You'll know if this was the issue when you power it up.

In an emergency, if you can't get one just remove it and tie the lines together until you get home. That location won't work but the rest will.

I would try the hair dryer, sounds like this was an isolated event, should work OK.

Didn't even have to resort to the hair dryer, woke up this morning and it had dried out evidently. Reset the gfci and the button stayed in, DW can get rid of the emergency extension cord for the coffee pot. All is good at Myrtle!! Thanks all for the
Confirmation that I was on the proper trail.

Think of it this way Bingo.... the GFCI did it's job. It clicked off and stayed off until the water was gone (we sure hope) and then when things were dry and safe, it allowed itself to be reset. Isn't that what they are supposed to do?
We've completed a topic where we've discussed what's happening here and that it worked for once! No complaints and now Mama's got her coffee!
I did want to bring out one point of this topic. I've heard that a blow dryer is a good solution to quickly dry out outlets and one must make sure that this is very thorough to ensure all water has been dried out. I would suspect one should NOT use a compressor or compressed air because this will use too much pressure and blow the water out of the outlet, to who knows where. The goal is to dry the outlet and not move any water elsewhere. And is a heat gun is TOO hot and could damage the outlet? Is this about right?

Bingo:
On a side note, do they still allow dogs on the beach at Myrtle? I was there years ago at Pirate Land and they were allowed.

I know that this is not what happened in this event, but when a GFCI wont reset it could also mean the breaker has tripped. GFCIs wont reset if the power is off. Just a note to keep in the back of your mind.

Bingo, try the hair dryer, I had the outlet on the very back wall curb side get soaked the year we stayed in Tenn for the winter. The humid air in the rig passed through the outlet and condensed on a screw from one of the ladder mounts. The moisture collected on the fiberglass insulation around the outlet and and then flooded the outlet. I removed the outlet and used the hair dryer to dry the outlet and a fan on all night to dry out the insulation. So the dryer does work. I later covered all that area with foam insulation and have not had a problem since..
