Water in the Bedroom slide.

I know this has been brought up before, but I may not be remembering all the possible solutions. During heavy rains or severe storms (wind, hail and heavy rains) we are getting a little water in the corners of the bedroom slide. The rug will get wet in both corners, enough that several inches of carpet are wet. We've never found water coming down the walls, but exhaustive searches and several re-caulking events haven't produced any results. I seem to recall that some folks have extended the drains where they come out of the rubber seals (assuming I understood what they were saying). If this is a possible answer, how was the fix accomplished. I'm frustrated so all ideas, no matter how strange, will be appreciated and acted upon.

We sealed the seam between the slide and the bottom 4 " wide mldg along the face of the slide. It was suggested by "Sheepdog". No worries!

We, too, have the identical leaks in each corner of the bedroom slide when we have heavy rain or rain with wind. If we have a gentle rain, no leak.

We'll be watching the responses to your question in the hopes that we can solve our leak problem. We tried getting the gasket away from the little drains on either side of the slide so that the water flowed out freely, but that didn't help. Like you, we have no water coming down the walls.

On the bedroom slide you have to make sure that the seals are all the way out and clear to the top. Some times the seal doesn't roll out, that will cause it to leak, that is what we have learned in the past. We use our awning rod to flip it out, but be carful.

Here is what we did...had the same problem....The side gasket was being held out by the little gutter at the bottom allowing the water to get behind the seal and soaking the rug at the bottom. Since the fix no new water or wet rug.

Les, I'm assuming you used some seal material you picked up somewhere, what did you use for the glue?

Wish it was that simple, but that's not the cause.

Dick,

All the materials were commercial grade Dow Corning products we use in the glass industry. One of the keys is that the gaskets/ seals are cleaned well with isopropol alcohol and that were you trim the slide gasket enough so it sits against the slide side.

Thanks, Larry and Sheepdog. Went out and looked and the old seal had pulled away in some places. Resealed and we'll see what happens. Next chance for a severe storm is scheduled for tomorrow night so, unfortunately, we should get a quick chance to test it out.
