A tank ????

Two years ago my dealer replaced my galley tank but by mistake he removed the shower tank first. He replaced the tank and finished repairs. In oct on our last trip I saw water coming out of the belly. I started dumping the tank early after that and no more leak. I am out of warrenty and I am thinking of taking it out myself has anybody seen the top of A tank. DO the vent and drain screw in or glue in. I think if I have to I can cut every loose and order new tank. My dealer said it would take A days labor + tank he has not said how much yet. Just wanted to know if anyone had done this thanks bobby

Good question! If Keystone does it the way my employer does it, the vent and drain pipes simply are slip fitted into the top of the tank with gaskets around the pipe. The pipes to fit inside a short collar on the top of the tank.

That is a project that I will be undertaking myself as our galley grey tank is leaking also. I'm going to be working around the rear axle as the floor plan that our Challenger has is the same as the 3400. And I have been doing the same thing you are.

With the black tank leak issues we've had, the service manager told me the vent pipe is fitted into a rubber boot (didn't say about the drain pipe). He seems to think when we set up at our home base (no sewer) we are over filling the tank. I asked how we were supposed to know exactly when it is full, other than the burping, with those crappy monitors they use. I think he is probably right, as when set up in the park here, and on sewer, I dump when she burps. I've had the ABS membrane down on the belly, and is isn't that big of a deal. Biggest problem I had was where I had to cut it all the way across the back, but I happened to have some 1/8" X 1 1/2" X 10' aluminum flat pieces that really fit the bill there.

Our tanks have never been full..When set up long term we dump all tanks every other day.It is part of my routine and takes all of maybe20/ 30 mins to do. We have never had a leak.

We only dump our tanks when they are full while parked for a long time, and have not had any problems. When we are traveling, we always dump and rinse before we move.

My guess would be that if they are leaking when they are full that possibly there is a connection that is not fitted correctly near the top of the tank.

Thanks guys. I think the belly will be easy there is a seam close to the back of the tank. I have to see how to unhook the drains from below also as well as the top. My s.o.b did not have a belly it would have been a lot easyer. I will call monday to ck on tank. There is always great help here. Thanks again bobby

BTW, Keystone has a tape for the underbelly membrane. Duct tape won't stay on; my dealer tried that. I called Keystone, and they informed me it took a special tape. I then had the dealer to order some; warranty covered it so I don't have any idea what it costs.
