Another headboard

Inspired by John and Marge, Judy Denner, and Bill and Ann, here is our take on a custom headboard for Montana:

They are actually mirrors (under the photos), wooden frames. Used the back of the things, cause the opening for the photos was larger. Stained and put polyurethane on them. Then printed photos, photos are attached only via double sided scotch tape, easily removeable if I want to change the photos, or if they get dirty or discolored. Sorta our family tree, cannot see from this photo, but one of my dad, my mom, Al's dad, Als' mom, one son in a jump suit (skydiving), one son just hanging out, son and his bride on their wedding day and one of the twins shaving with grampa.

Thanks all!

For all the great inspirations of those that came before!

By the way, for any that might want to consider, the frames, are mirrors, found at Ikea in Minneapolis, only $2.00 each. Had to go thru a pile of em to find ones that met the approval of the boss man. Fronts and backs, since he was not sure about which side we would use (I was, snicker).

It was a fun project!

Gee Carol, I would love to go there and look but that is just too close to the Mall of America for me. My downfall. I have to remind myself over and over that we are fulltimers now and just can't get another pair of shoes even if they are on sale.

adellmoll,

I can relate to that! HAHA. Was the first time in Minneapolis, first time at Mall of America. I managed to escape the Mall with very sore legs, knees, hips, some lunch under my belt and a very small bag of goodies. Did not escape from Ikea with a SMALL bag of goodies (it was considerably larger, had all those mirrors in there), but still had the sore legs, knees and hips! HAHA However, most of the Ikea stuff was for Montana!

Headboard is a great idea! Ikea is a dangerous spot though. Lucky you escaped relatively unscathed.

Judy,

Thanks, it was your quilt headboard that gave me the idea of the photos. The idea of the wood came from John and Marge and Bill and Ann.

And, Yes, I really do enjoy having photos on board. I have others in other spots in Montana.

What a great idea. Very creative. I've been to Mall of America but never heard of Ikea. They have lots of good things? Is it a chain?

IKEA, I believe is a European company. I have not done so, but I'll bet you could find it doing a Google search. They have the most spectacular bedrooms and kitchens! It is a huge store, and you have to go through it ALL! What I don't like is they sorta hurd ya thru like cattle, start here, finish here (the cash registers!)

They have kitchen stuff, from the full laid out kitchen to utensils, same for baths, bedrooms. Lots of wonderful little storage things. Some of the stuff is pricy, but some of the kitchen utensils and stuff is not so bad. I found a tray to carry food in and out of Montana when we are cooking outside. Had been looking for one for a while, either they were too much coin (cheapy ole Carol) or Al did not like what I found. Found a nice simple blue one at IKEA, under $2.00, light weight, perfect size. BINGO!

There is the one in Minneapolis, I understand 2 now around Chicago. Not sure where else, but one is coming to Canton Michigan next summer I believe. OHHHH BOY!
