Late night arrival

We have had to park late twice this summer. We arrived well after dark last night in a poorly lite park. I took two of the small decorative solar lights we carry with us and laid them where I wanted the front and rear of the rv to be after I backed in. It gave me an excellent target to align to. With those lights and the DW keeping an eye on how far to back up it was almost as easy as a day time drop.

One disrubing find was the closet rod came down during the trip and all our clothes ended up in a pile below. Now to figure out a repair... Has anyone ever experienced this and come up with a good repair?

Someone told me once and RV'er has to be a tinkerer. I guess that's true!

Great idea

I purchased a replacement rod that had a center support because we had the same problem.
Good luck, let us know how you fix it.

Ours is a front bedroom and when the rod jumped out and bent I went to the hardware store and got a wooden rod and hardware for it. Took the three metal supports off the wall, drilled a hole in the end of each and then measured and hammered them onto the rod (the wooden rods are bigger). I then drove a screw thru the hole to make sure the rod couldn't jump out again and hung the whole thing back where it belonged.

I had my clothes rod fall down also. I bought a 1 1/4" Dia PVC pipe, cut it to 4'6" long and put a T on top. I then put the stock clothes rod thru the T, put the vertical support rod half way on the clothes rod, propped it up on the floor, and refastened the rod to the wall brackets. I also tied some nylon cords around the clothes rod where it meets the two support brackets so the rod cannot come out of the brackets. I havn't moved to try it out, but i am confident it will work. Beats the alternative of getting rid of all my "heavy" duty tactical clothing!

Thanks for the replies. The closet rod in the front bedroom of our 295RKD had two supports that were attached to small pressed board pieces underneath the closet shelf. Those pieces were held in place with a couple small staples like those used on the woodwork throughout the rv. I replaced them with 3/4" x 3" lumber and screwed them in place with wood screws. I bought a new rod and think it will stand the test of time.

Trees are starting to come alive with color here in NW Ontario and we're looking forward to hitting the shores of Lake Superior between Thunder Bay ON and Duluth MN later in the week. I expect the scenery will be vibrant.
