You need to determine which side you want to stay at. There are plenty of good sites east or west.

We've stayed on both sides of the park. On the east side we stayed at the KOA. It is a bit pricey but the sites are huge. If we visit the park again we'll probably try the CG up on the hill on the east side. I think it is called Johnson's.
On the west side we stayed at the Mountain Meadows CG and that is where we would stay again. It is a few miles from the entrance but not too far. Very scenic CG with unique sites. The first time we visited the Going to the Sun road was blocked due to a major landslide so we did not get a chance to make that trip. The next time the road was open but they were doing a lot of work on the road. This caused us to have to wait for awhile but the stoppage was in a very scenic spot so we just sat back and soaked in the beauty.
Good luck and enjoy. Dennis and Mary Kay

We've spent quite a bit of time there - Apgar & St. Mary will have sites for you - stay away from Two Medicine & Many Glacier (for campsites). That being said, our favorite area in the park is Many Glacier. We've posted a lot about Glacier on our blog - www.RVingandtravels.com. Use the Index on the right and click on Glacier. Feel free to PM if have specific questions. You'll love the area - one of our favorites!

We stayed at the Apgar Campground. We had to look a bit but found sites large enough for us. Several SOBs of comparable size were there at the same time.

Just make sure not to try to tow through GNP on the Going to the Sun road. We also stayed at Mountain Meadows RV Park and would stay there again. We were disappointed in GNP as far as the lack of wildlife visible from the roads. We have been to Yellowstone a few times and you can see all kinds of wildlife from the roads, but we never saw any animals at GNP. Beautiful scenery at GNP but when you live in the Pacific Northwest and can see deer, coyote, bear, eagles, literally in our yard it was very disappointing not to see any in GNP.
