Noisy Water Pump

The water pump on my 2955RL seems to be very noisy. I don't remember previous ones being that noisy on SOB's that I've owned. Any one else experiencing this?

Yes the water pump on our 09 3400RL was noisy also to a point we couldn't stand the noise. We moved the pump to the basement level and insulated around pump after installing thick rubber pads for mounting and to act as insulators. Made a huge difference. The plastic lines transmitt a lot of noise and to eliminate that problem it is best to use a short section of rubber hose on the discharge and suction.

Ours is noisy as well. It did help when I made sure all trapped air was removed from the lines, especially the washer hookup which we don't use.

Our 08 2955 had a very loud pump. It did help to use one of those rubber kneeling pads under the pump cut to size to help dampen the vibration from the pump. Also try and use some plumbing pipe insulation on the lines where they touch anything or each other in the area behind the front bay as well as under the bathroom sink. It all helps.

Ours on our 3400 was VERY noisy, at first. So, like most, I got in there and insulated/tightened/relocated lines and fittings. It helped a great deal. It also helps to have a "helper" turn the water on and off while you are under there so you can see and feel what is actually making the noise. I also went one step further, I bought the Shurflo "bladder" tank and attached it to the discharge side of the pump. The bladder tank is one you pre-charge to a certain air pressure. Like well systems, it gives you a bit of draw down capacity before the pump kicks on, and then the pump runs a bit longer charging it back up before it shuts off. Saves wear and tear on the pump, and it helped quiet it down too.

Same here so I went out and got the biggest pump Sure-flo makes, spent a bundle on it 5.4 gpm demand type, dont waist you money on it its all hype for advertising. they have a new onr for 99.00 that does the same thing as the expensive one, naturally after I got mine and installed it.

Footloose, your water pump is located behind the wall where you hook up city water. You can see it if you go into your basement on the driver's side. It is behind the white plastic wall. The wall is fastened in with a few screws.
It is tucked in pretty well and is hard to get at. Lots of plastic pipe in there too.

Thanks camper4. I'll give it a look. I've been in that area quite a bit fixing leaks, but must have missed it.

The pump in our 3295RK was noisy but after I installed a piece of foam under it you do not notice it as much. When I did mine I didn't install the screws that hold it down as it is in a spot where it will not go anywhere. It is held in one spot by the tubing. I was thinking about moving it into the basement at some point but I am not using the pump at this time as I will be work camping till next spring in Anacortes Wa. If you follow the link below I have a few photos of the piece of foam I used in my rig.

Thanks for all the tips and info. I will have to give some of them a try. Sounds like just putting something between the pump and what it's mounted on helps alot. Thanks again.

You can also add a couple feet of hose on the pressure side of the pump as this will soften the pump hammering sound. I coiled the hose up at the pump and used zip ties to hold it.

Just a not to add to this I noticed that in Camping Worlds Catalog the sell these 2 flexable connectors to help stop hammering of the water lines, just a note that might get your courosity up.
