hydraulic reservoir

Hi guys, need some help. I want to take the cap off to fill the reservoir, but for the life of me I can't get the cap off! I have tried turning it, even pushed down and tried to turn, but it won't give. Hope you can help me.

My 05 reservoir has a yellow cap pressed in a black grommet. The reservoir is to the side of the pump not on the bottom like the newer ones. Just pull straight up ... maybe cock it slightly to either side as you pull straight up. The yellow cap simply has a groove in it that fits in the black grommet.

Thanks Diesel Guy. I tried everything but that as I was afraid I might split the lip.

Many thanks again.

On my 08 3400RL the cap was so tight that I had to use wrench to get it off. There was a little of the nut showing below the knurled knob. It was scary, but it came off. The whole dipstick cap was made of plastic - even scarier.
