Slide Cable Gearbox Issues

If you have had to replace the gearbox on your cable slide system please contact me with as much information as you can regarding when, how much you spent to replace, and any other pertinent information. There is a design flaw in the gearbox whereby the middle gear is able to actually elongate the mounting hole in the aluminum gearbox and cause failure. I have contacted the company which bought out Accu Slide. If enough failures are shown then a class action lawsuit may be pursued to reimburse owners who had to replace these gearboxes because of faulty design.

Yes there was an issue with some gear boxes, which was confirmed to me my a NORCO Rep (parent of Accu Slide) a few years ago when ours failed. We were at our SOB Rally and had it replaced for free.
A number of defective gear boxes were installed, but no recall issued and just left customers to foot the bill. I have advised folks with failed gear boxes to fight to get free replacement since it's a known fault.
And it looks like your year Montana falls right into the known period of bad gear boxes.

Industry wide issue, so many have been replaced and replaced. They did come out with a higher torque rating gear box which I installed. Didn't have an issue afterward but then again we traded the unit in about a year after putting that gear box on. Cheap white metal gear strips every time. Was about ready to have a machine shop manufacture a gear up which would have solved the issue. Norco did nothing... Waited quite a while for the replacements as they were always on back order as so many were failing... BTW I bought two the last time of the higher torque model so I had a spare. I'm told it will work on the new Monty despite the only electric slide being the bedroom which isn't cable. Hopefully never have to find out.....
