Heating question

Just picked up our 334 High Country and have it hooked up to house electricity, LP shut off. Heat worked great as we went to bed but sometime throughout the night it stopped heating but blowers still run. What do I do to trouble shoot this problem? (Heat will work when I turn the LP back on)

For the furnace to work you will need the propane tanks turned on. Above the left tank is the auto-switching valve point it left or right towards your full tank (instructions in the files section of this webpage).
Here is a video of how the thermostat operates.
There is also a furnace troubleshooting file in that files section.
Hope this helps.

When you mean LP back on are you shutting off both tanks and turning them back on ? if so sound like your auto regulator mite need to be replaced or the tank or tanks could be the issue.

If your turning the thermostat off and then back on it could be a communication issue from tstat to furnace. But usually there will be a E code flashing.

If you are in "heat pump" mode, that only works down to about 40°F outside temperature. It is not very efficient like one of high efficiency 16SEER heat pumps in a house.

I read and re-read your post and will just ask this to clear my confusion. You do realize that for the main furnace to work (the one that blows heat up thru the floor vents) you have to have a propane bottle turned on? The heat pump on your A/C isn't going to cut it with temps in the 20's- 30's.

With the current cold snap, you'll be going thru both tanks in less than or about 4 days. Get a ceramic heater to help the floor furnace out. Fireplace will help a bit as well.

What Dieselguy said. Just be careful how much you use any kind of space heater in this weather because the furnace is what's going to keep your pipes and everything below the floor from freezing.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, I’m new to this and have A LOT to learn. It’ll be worth it in the long run!

No problem. All of us were new once and you should see some of my original issues.

Just a final note to all the good answers...if you have your heat pump on and the temp falls below, about 40ish, your furnace will turn on automatically to help with the heating and protect your pipes in the basement and plenum areas.
Enjoy the Life.

Just curious...Do you have a special thermostat for this? I cannot get my furnace to run when the heat pump mode is selected. On my Dometic CT thermostat, Furnace mode and Heat Pump mode are mutually exclusive. I can only select one.
If yours does that, I would really be curious how you were able to get that feature. It would be nice to not have to get up in the cold at night to switch over.

I have a 2021 HC 331rl and have been traveling in cold weather on our way to warmer areas. I've noticed that when on "Heat Elec" when it dips down to low 40s, the furnace comes on also and the display says "Heat Elect Gas". Hope this helps explain.

That's actually pretty cool. I wish mine did that. I can only choose either AC, Heat Pump or Furnace, and of course Off.

What kind of furnace/thermostat do you have? I have a 2020 331RL and mine is Dometic.....unfortunately.

I'm wondering if you have the Coleman units? When I replaced the faulty Dometic CT thermostat with a MicroAir unit (SOOO much better than a Dometic) one of the things I asked the engineers about was the ability of the unit to switch from heat pump to furnace once the heat pump would not function. I was informed a Dometic would not do that but the Coleman would. They were going to see if there was a way they could modify the MicroAir to switch as well but I'm afraid the heat pump unit/Dometic will be a problem.

The 120V heat comes from the heat pump and that only works down to 40 degrees. Furnace heat is propane and if that is turned off, no heat.
