Lose TV signal

For the past 2.5 months, when I turn on the bedroom 12volt lights I lose the signal to the tv in the living room and then when I turn the lights off the tv regains its signal. I have metered for shorts and grounds, but do not find any issues.
Should I be looking at the converter or is it something else?
Thanks

How old is your rig and has someone converted to LED lighting? Cheap LED's will cause interference at times.

Check all of your TV connections. Including behind the wall outlet/booster.

Mine does the same...sometimes. Some (cheap) LED's will emit radio frequency interference (RFI) that blocks tv signal from reaching your antenna.

I just got some newer technology LED's (also 12-24 Volt range) today and going to see if they correct the RFI issue.

We have experienced the same when using the antenna especially if the signal is weak. Rotating the antenna to the optimum direction sometimes helps.

Shorts and grounds are not the only things electrically than can cause problems. We had a problem some years ago that the bedroom TV would turn off when the vanity light switch was turned on. After pulling covers off several 12 volt boxes, I discovered a poorly made crimp connecting three wires together with a splice cap. I cut everything apart and made the connection properly and we have never had an issue since. So, the proper term for this issue would be 'opens'.

Cheap coax ends will give you the same kind of problems. Replaced all mine years ago with good compression connectors. TV interference problems went away. The tool and a bag of connectors was about $30.00 at Lowe's.

tv cuts out

I've got the same problem with my Montana. I forgot to tell the dealer when I was in their shop so now I will try some new coax ends on the cables and see if that helps. I'll keep an eye on this column to see if there are any other suggestions. Thanks Folks

Poorly done connections from Keystone are an issue.
Our rear den TV on our 3791RD was not getting amplified antenna signal. Since our CW dealership claimed to have no capability to address any tv issues, I ended doing it myself.
Since there are NO wiring diagrams available from Keystone, I did my "farmboy" diagnostics and repair. I took every cable terminal apart and retightened terminal and reinstalled. I can't tell you, which one was bad, but hour later tv was getting amplified signal. At same time I fixed failed "cable" input to bedroom tv.

A cheap fix by trial and error.

I agree, should have replaced everything with higher grade cable end terminals as others suggest. If failures come back, I will do it.

In our 5th wheel the main connection is behind wall on LHS of front storage compartment.

It could be that the lights are wired to the same connection as the antenna booster which is 12 volt also. It sounds like a poor connection causing you to lose boost. My booster is at the connection for the BR TV in the closet. Check to see if the light is on for the booster when you lose the signal.

Hi I have also found if your cables from your antenna are run to close to power for lights it will interfere with signal. I replace my coaxial cables every 5 to 8 years. This may seem extreme but I find it works for me. Just a thought. Good luck. PS try running cable straight to tv and see if turning lights on and off affects it then.

It is not electrical. It is the magic of digital TV.

A few weeks ago I had to replace my Winegard Razor OTA antenna that came on the Montana from the factory. The broken antenna was damaged by a tree limb on the inside. When I removed it I found the coax connection VERY LOOSE.

I replaced our incandescent bulbs with cheap led ones. Every time I turned on bedroom lights, over the air tv went blank...led bulbs produced radio frequency interference. His was confirmed by a friend who was a retired Chief Engineer as a local tv station. Also, the cheap bulbs burned out too quickly.

I found these bulbs in Ebay: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Volts range from 12 to 14 and they do not interfere with tv signal. Also much brighter than cheep ones. Nice warm color.
