We have 06 F350 SuperCab, diesel, no duallies and we're getting about 15.5 - not towing. Not sure about the towing mileage yet, we've only got about 800 miles on the truck.

I have 2006 350F diesel, crew cab, with single wheels. Non-towing has been about 15-16 MPG. I have only towed our 3475RL about 120 miles. I was seeing what speed got the best mileage. About 62 MPH had the diesel at about 1800 RPMs. At 67-69MPH, the diesel was turning about 2400 RPMS. Anyway I was getting about 8-9 MPG on this brief trip at various speeds. I hope to get about 10MPG keeping the RPM around 1800. My total miles driven are about 1200.

I get 13-14 mpg in town not pulling and 10-11 pulling the Monty. I have not taken any real long distance trips yet, but I don't imagine it would be much better. I am just about to turn 8000 miles, so I have a long way to go to breaking it in. I really like the Tow Boss Package - I sacrificed some mpg for pulling power and safety. I am very happy with it. I don't know how much longer diesel needs to be more than gas but it is getting a little ridiculous. But I know that's another huge discussion!

I have an 05 F350 SRW 4x4 V10 and I can get 12 miles to the US gal on the highway if I drive it carefully. I leave on my first good trip tomorrow , about 3000 miles of towing so when I return
I will post my results, if I can make 8 MPG , I will be happy.

I had two 7.3 PSDs and an 04 6.0 PSD. the 7.3s were better on fuel and very reliable.
My 6.0 was harder on fuel and left me stranded 3 separate times, that is why it is gone.

I do recognize the fact if you get a reliable 6.0 PSD, they do have outstanding performance.

Do all tow boss trucks have a 4.30 axle?

As I understood it the tow boss package was the 6.0 diesel and the 4:30 Diff. When I was ordering my truck on line you could not order the 4:30 without the PSD//However upon checking with Ford it was fould that you could..so I guess the answer to the question is ..yes...and Wrenchtraveler.I don't like to get caught up in the MPG thing because it is not all that important to me but We do steady 13"s , at the speed limit, cruse Control Tpk and interstates, no big hills. I will be interested to see what your MPG is towing your 2955//

Rich, I believe you, no two trucks or no two drivers will ever get the same MPG and I have never got the best mileage on anything I have ever owned.

I think you are right on the Tow Boss pkg. I do have the factory brake control and it is the finest braking I have ever had with electric brakes.

I will not be posting for awhile unless I pick up a WIFI laptop and that is possible. I will be on the road for about 7 weeks so I will miss the computer.

Rich, best of luck with your new Montana and I hope it turns out to be everything you expect it to be. We just finished packing ours and Donna and I are completely amazed what this thing holds. Most of the cabinets over the sofa are still empty as well as the dressers. What a treat to have a place for everything we have to take with us. Take care.

Just returned from Florida - 1102 mile each way. Truck had slightly over 5,000 mile on it when I left home.I got 9.3 MPG on the trip down. The trip home pulling/up a lot of mountains - I got 10.2 MPG. I don't think the truck is broken in yet and hope to get around 11-12 MPG after brake-in when towing.

So far I got 17.5, and 16.9 with the first 2 tanks. All empty except for a 10 mile run when I got the trailer out of storage. Only got 1043 miles on it so far. I don't have the tow boss but have the 4.10 gears. I have been impressed as my previous 6.0 never got above 16.4 the whole time I owned it. I will be happy to see anything above 10-11 pulling. We are going on our first road trip with the trailer this weekend and will report back on how it did.

Steve, your mileage will get better with more miles on the truck, if my experience is any indication. Ours has 51,000 on it now (2005 F250 6.0L 3.73 TorqShift CrewCab). Until recently (see below) our mileage had peaked at 17 to 21 at highway speeds (over 72 drops the mileage). Town is 15 to 17 depending on how much is city freeway and how much is stoplight stop and go. 16.x was most common. Towing we averaged about 11.5 with lows around 9 in extreme mountainous conditions to 14 in flatlands with a tailwind. The Montana weighs 14,360 and total rig is 22,920 (both within the truck's specs).

Last week we towed Utah highway 24 from Hanksville to Torrey, then Utah 12 from Torrey to Cannonville, near Bryce Canyon. I knew this would be a beautiful drive but nobody warned me about the grades. I now know this F250 powerstroke will tow all 14,360 pounds of Montana up (and down the other side also at 14%) a 14% grade of roughly two miles duration. This road has several 8 percenters, a couple of 10 percenters, one 12 percenter and one 14 percenter. Speed limit on the 14 percenter and the 12 percenter was 35 with curves at lower recommended speeds. We held the speed limit with plenty of throttle remaining. I would not have run a higher speed because EGT (pre-turbo) wanted to go over 1200 when I tried. I backed down to 35 to keep EGT closer to 1100.

I also am even more convinced, after going down that 14 percenter that between the TorqShift smart downshifting (in tow/haul) and the exhaust backpressure from the turbo vanes closing that I do not need an exhaust brake in this truck.

I got off the mileage a bit. That stretch I described was only about 150 miles but we got 9.3 on that stretch. We had some serious elevation changes on this stretch but, wow, what a gorgeous drive.

After all that, I think our mileage has dropped from what it was. We had the recall done while in the Rio Grande Valley, the one that replaces the exhaust gas pressure sensor. At that time they flashed the engine computer with the latest updates. We have put about 4,500 miles on the truck since then and I am convinced mileage is down between 1 and 2 mpg in all modes - city, highway, solo, towing.
