The only permanent part suggested was a single horizontal 1 X 3 wood strip. The bed would then be reattached to the wood strip as it originally did to the slide out wall with 2 hinges. I see nothing about this suggestion that merits a caution. Am I missing something?

firestation12: No, you have done it correctly. I was trying to warn those that construct thinking it will never have to be undone. Mounting a ledger and then attaching the rest of the frame with screws allows easy removal if needed. Conversely attaching the trim molding around the slide with something like Liquid Nails ensures a problem if (when) the slide has to be removed.

I have completed the reattachment of my bed to the slide wall, adding adequate bracing, screws and 750 lbs worth of caster support bolted to the bases while keeping the weight down. Can easily be disassembled in the future and has plenty of support verses the 2 factory casters at 132lb weight rating and cheap staples...
