Spare tire

After reading the thread about the gentlemen losing his spare tire, was wondering if anyone has done anything to insure it stays up there. Never have been to concerned until I changed the spare to a Sailun, which is a much heavier tire then the old OE spare .

Our spare tire rack is not the beefiest thing I have ever seen, but mostly concerned with that really thin cable, and who knows how well that crank system is built. I think at the least adding a little heavier steel cable. I would sure hate that tire to come undone going down the highway. Anyone have any thoughts about this.
