For years, Steve and I have carried Emergency Info forms in a prominent place our wallets. I created the form with blanks for the name, address and arrival/departure dates of the RV park where we're parked, as well as the names and telephone numbers of our emergency contacts ... in our case, each other and our children.
The original thought behind the forms was to provide as much information as possible for emergency workers should we be in an accident that rendered us unable to communicate. (Folded up with the form is a typed list of medications and allergies and our doctor's name and phone number.) Additionally, the information as to where our Montana is parked could be helpful in the event of an accident. (If we had pets, that information could also be included on the form.)
Today, we discovered another very good reason to have this info in our wallets ... Steve never noticed that his wallet had fallen out of his jacket as he was getting in the truck. My phone rang as we were driving along and the caller told me that he had found the wallet! We beat feet back to where the couple who found the wallet were waiting and the young man told us he got our names and phone number from the Emergency Info form. Without that form, he would only have had our South Dakota address, but no phone number and no way to contact us.
And I'm happy to announce that everything was still in Steve's wallet ... although since we apparently ran over it with the truck, the wallet and several damaged credit/membership cards, had to be replaced.
