BigSky nose bleed? Leak found and fixed!

Betsy went to get a sweater this afternoon from the front closet lower shelf. Everything up there was saturated and there is a wet arch stain on the cedar paneling on the front wall. After that toad choking deluge we had night before last and almost continuous rain/drizzle since I am not surprised but I am disappointed. Now I have to go looking for a crack in the caulking along the top of the front cap. I hope by the time we get to Ron and Mary's (Monday) it will be dry enough to get up there and look..

After we got to Rondo's house we put a ladder up to take a look, it was not good. The center 4 ft of the rubber membrane at the nose cone just above the words DEEP SEA on our signature picture had pulled out and had been bagging in the wind thus exposing the OSB underneath to the weather. We went to Leach Campers here in Omaha and for 80 dollars got 4 tubes of self leveling sealer, 2 tubes of white caulk, and a half gallon of rubber to wood contact adhesive. It took us 4 hrs to pull the trim and scrape the old sealer up and get it all cleaned up. We re-glued the membrane down and re-installed the trim. I have pics of the entire operation and the cause. I will post a separate post with pics later today..

Dave,

That is a feature on 2008's. It was their version of a washer hookup. Didn't you get the memo?

On our 2009 our feature is removable closet side panel for easy access to our drawer slides.

Look at the small boot on the TV antenna where the cable attaches. They are bad about backing off and the water follows the cable into the nose. Don't ask how I know.

The boot is good. 40 knot winds made that trip a LOT of FUN

Just look at your Diver front graphics and you know why your nose is wet!
