Dining Table Top Heat Mark
Just a note for others…
We recently put a hot pizza box on our table in a 2018 Montana High Country. The table is a dark color. The box left a white “heat mark” in the table finish which could not be rubbed out. My wife found a great solution to remove the mark, using a white hand towel and a dry, hot iron. Just a few runs with the iron back and forth over the towel - the mark cleared completely!

Nice trick.
Ever since we burned a hole through a plastic table cloth on a picnic take some 35 years ago by putting a hot pan on it from cooking over a fire, I have always kept lumber around to use as trivets on the kitchen table, and picnic table, and even at home. Considering I have quite a collection of lumber I carry in the camper anyway for leveling, for the jacks, and even for leveling the picnic table. Inside the camper, we finally broke down and decided to use a store bought wooden cutting board as a trivet as it looks a little nicer than a 2x8 section of treated lumber! But, we've never had a burned table cloth or a burn mark on any of tables since. Live and learn ...

Thank you for the tip. We served pizza onto four paper plates and left four hot spots. And the pizza wasn’t that hot.

We found out that the white marks are from moisture trapped beteeen the table finish and wood. Apparently, the heat from the iron and white towel draws it out. Good luck - and let us know if it works for you…
