Josh Haylett Says No More Residential Refrigerators

They won't stock them at Haylett RV, says they are problematic. You can buy an RV with one, but you'll have to order it if you buy from Haylett Rv. I don't have one now, but my dream RV is a DRV Mobile Suites and I don't seen them selling anything on their website that doesn't have a residential refrigerator.

I've never had a residential refrigerator, but had pondered getting one and a built in generator if I ever traded.

I saw another of his videos where he said washer/dryers don't belong in rv's.

We couldn't do without ours.

It seems like lots of folks are having problems with their RV Residential Refrigerators, could this be just the beginning of seeing these in Montana Trailers going bye bye?

Almost 2 years, and our Samsung residential refrigerator hasn't missed a lick! Now, I've never unplugged it, except to travel and then the inverter works just fine. In 2 years, Summer and Winter, it's not been turned off, ice maker works great, and it's traveled over a lot of miles!

I didn't think I'd adjust to a residential, all electric refrigerator, after 3 travel trailers with RV gas-electric refrigerators. But it did happen. Now, I do really like the fridge.

AND, I I never have to get into another debate about traveling with the refrigerator turned on gas.

All of my motor home owning friends love their residential refers. Why is be different for 5th wheel? Both use the same refer.

Ol' Josh puts out all kinds of videos and I've watched many. He's kind of fun. He has however on many occasions made comments about res fridges being problematic and I've hear him make comments about washer/dryers so he has an opinion obviously.

Prior to purchasing this trailer I had never wanted a res fridge....nor a washer and dryer but as most realize "she that must be obeyed" sort of has a way in getting what they want; hence, new trailer, washer/dryer and res fridge....I just didn't know I wanted them.

Prior to choosing a trailer with the res fridge I tried to do my homework. I was, and am, very leery of it. I talked to many folks in several campgrounds and didn't find one, not a one, that said they preferred the RV type fridge...not one. I thought that was amazing - 5th wheels, Class A's; didn't matter. Thus far (maybe 1750 miles and about 90 days in it) I can't fault it at all. In fact, DW loves it tremendously.

I read of some failures along with issues working on them. Hopefully that won't be the case and it will be just as reliable as all the other refrigerators and Samsung products that I've owned. As far as 12VDC only fridges - they can keep them. Far too many issues can affect the 12v system in an RV and leave the fridge....and the contents, dead.

This is Haylett RVs opinion. When I purchased this one my dealer had nothing but praise and recommendation for the residential units so guess we'll see where it goes.

Our Residential Fridge has been going for 5 1/2 years and just shy of 50K miles, no frost or moisture and can run for a few days on our battery bank (4 T105s) if need be.

Lots of snowbirds in our Florida park. Majority of frig problems are with the rv units, not the residential.

Five years with our Samsung and no problems. I don’t think we would ever consider an rv unit again.

When we were looking for a new Montana I watched all the videos I could find, I even talked to Haylett and got a quote (a pretty good one), but when it came down to it, their negative videos moved me away from them ended up using their quote to get a better deal locally.

On the subject of RV verses Residential, from what I see online in the forums, issues are about the same, allot more RV units so allot more issues.

You just have to remember that Residential Fridges have been used in MH's for years long before they ever started showing up in Fifth Wheels.

He says the slide has to come out to get the residential refrigerator out.

Makes me wonder will an 18 cu ft rv fridge fit out the door?

We have never had one, but if we ever do, it will NOT be a Samsung or LG. Just ask any appliance guy which brands to avoid and that's what the answer will be.

All I can say is he's full of it. Most just require taking the handles off to get through the door, but some might require taking the doors off.
I know quite a few folks that have made the switch from RV to Residential fridge and all they had to do was seal up the outside vents and pull the handles to get through the door.
With spouting info like that he should be an RV Salesman.

But if you take out the slide, you can charge more.

A little new to six volt batteries , I have two of the T105's, how would they do with residential fridge ,as far as how long would they run it ? . And say would a Honda 2000 charge them back up very quickly thru the converter.

Now that we have a trailer with a full size residential fridge and a separate washer and dryer, I would never get another rig that didn't have these. Sounds like this sales guy will lose in the end.
