Leucistic Hummer

A friend that I used to work with took this picture last week. When he first sent it to me I thought it to be an albino. Looking more at the photo it appears the bird is a white Ruby Throat. A true albino would have a lighter beak, pink feet and eyes.

He said it was on one of his feeders early in the morning, hence the dark background. The bird stayed about 15 minutes and he managed to get four pictures of it, this one being the first and best. I told him he should go play the lotto!!!!! A very fine picture of a rare bird, I am impressed.

Very impressive photo.

I think that the odds of finding a hummingbird like that are even greater than winning LOTTO.

We had one of those a couple of years ago. It hung around the entire summer and then gone !! It was quite a conversation piece when we had visitors.
