How accurate is your Dometic single zone digital thermostat
So we have a 2017 3790RD with the Whisper Quiet AC system. On our last trip I noticed that the thermostat in our kitchen area was reading 79 when our free standing thermostat (reads outside and inside) said that inside the rig it was 67. It felt 67, it was no way 79.
So its back for service under warranty and I have asked them to fix the thermostats. The service guy is saying the thermostats have checked out OK and that they may be off by as much as 5 degrees and that is OK.
Really? Its a modern digital solid state thermostat. I cannot believe it should be OK to be off by 5 degrees.
So - question for those with a similar thermostat - is yours as inaccurate?
Thanks in advance.
Chris

It is the cheapest thermostat Keystone could contract for. Perhaps not the best quality like in a house. Having said that, ours has operated without any issues. Have never checked the accuracy.

We have Coleman and they are dead on and match with our indoor/outdoor therometer.

One problem I have noticed with our thermostat is the location. It is adjacent to our door and when the sun is coming in the door window it generates a lot of heat which falls on the thermostat. Have thought of cutting some of that foil window shield material and insert in that window.
Have also experienced a wide fluctuation between temperature when the thermostat cuts in and out. Our thermostat has an adjustment to narrow the temperature range when it cuts in or out but I found that the furnace or A/C is constantly cycling and went back to the factory setting.

On the Dometic Single Zone LCD Thermostat the Temp differential of 1 or 2 Degrees can only be done in Furnace Mode choosing d1 for 1 degree or d2 for 2 degrees

As above : One problem I have noticed with our thermostat is the location. It is adjacent to our door and when the sun is coming in the door window it generates a lot of heat which falls on the thermostat.
I have the same location and it causes issues with the furnace as well in cool weather as the doors bleed cool air/warm air and affect the thermostat about 2 ft away...
Actually considering pulling the trim around the door and seeing if I can seal up the annular spaces with foam or insulation of some sort while improving the door seals.
I set my thermostat to make it comfortable in the main area of the unit don't usually pay attention to temps. Having the door leakage makes for some areas being too warm or too cold in comparison. Maybe moving the Thermostat is the easier fix.......LOL

On our new rig the thermostates are close enough. The old rig had the thermostat on an outside wall and when that wall got west sun it got real cold until the sun went down.

Thanks for the all the replies. I did get a reply from Dometic who said the t-stat accuracy is -/+ 5 degrees. For a $75K trailer you think we could expect a little more accuracy... Guess I need to ignore the number in the window and just set it to what ends up feeling comfortable.
Thanks all.
