Awnings
I was wondering how the "Awnings" hold up on the Montana's. I tried to upgrade to the awning with the aluminum guard but was told they were only available on the Big Sky. I have had better luck with the awnings that have the aluminum guard. By better I mean sun damage and towing in windy conditions.
Second question would be as follows. Which slide topper seems to hold up the best. Yes I do camp in windy conditions but we are not full timers so our slides are not out for months at a time.
Thanks in advance.
Tom Marty

I replaced the awning this year and do not have slide toppers. I think you can get about 10 years here in the shadey North West.

Keep the top (the sunny side) of the rolled up awning treated with 303 protectant, and it will last, and last and last.

We replaced the factory installed awning fabric for the main awning this last November. Our awning was 5 years old. The main reason was because of pin holes that were starting to show up and some tears near the attachment to the body. Also, I got a hell deal from CW ($285 installed) and I was able to get rid of the ugly Sea Foam green colored awning that did not match any colors on the rig. Our new awning is sandstone and at least has some colors that go with the trailer.

We only average 25-30 nights per year and have towed the Monte about 20,000 miles but our awning still looks good. It does stay in covered storage when not in use.
Don't have slide toppers.

Ours are only 5 years old and the toppers are beginning to get pinholes. The awning is fine, although more stained than I'd like. Too much to do and too little time to do it in.

And I thought we were the only unit with a Sea Foam color awning. Who at Keystone decided on this green color which does NOT match any color on unit? Even rvers have commented as to why we chose green.

The sea foam green I can live with until I replace the cheap vinyl that loves to collect dew and rain on you with acrylic fabric. I thought it weird color choice as well. John
