another landing gear question

hello everyone, I was just taking the monty off the tv and the drivers side shear pin on the landing gear snapped, why does this happen? and what type of pin should I get? I don't know if there is more than one pin but, it's the one up top. thankyou.

If you're talking about the bolt that goes thru the horizontal shaft below the motor, I believe it is a 1/4-20 1" bolt. Get from any hardware store.

I am not at the monty now but, when I turn the black shaft in the front storage it lines up the two holes at the top of landing gear. I popped the plastic cap and it's right there. thankyou
