Maybe there is an air bubble in the line. This happens when opening the valves too quickly and air not getting purged which is known to cause stoves not to work or heaters not to work. Maybe this is a problem with generators.
Is there a manual way to start the generator? Does it sound like it's trying to start and not getting fuel?
I don't have an installed generator myself, but these seem to be common checks for devices using propane or using small engines.
I do think altitude may have something to do with it as well, which is why opening the valves slowly is important at all times. I remember reading somewhere that some fuels are more temperamental at altitudes than other fuels, but I don't recall the details.
