Converter

I seem to have ran into a problem with the converter in my Montana
This must have happened last winter. The problem is, The refrigator,
furnace, TV Ant. and battery charger won't work when I am pluged into shore power. They only work with the battery, which runs my battery dead. Everything that has to run 12volt except these items works fine with the converter. Has anybody had a converter problem?
I also have the crack in the fiberglass at the corner of the bedroom slide. Haven't checked this, is the crack just in the fiberglass or is it a structual problem?

Don't have an answer for your voltage problem, but the crack in the fiberglass at the corner of the bedroom slide is a known problem. Keystone is aware of it and has a fix for it. It is a crack in the fiberglass due to stress. If your dealer won't fix it, call Keystone customer service and tell them of your problem. Chances are very good that they will repair it. They did ours and did a magnificent job at no cost to me.

Jim and Hazel, I don't have the answer but you might pull the converter and check wiring for loose connections and the circuit board (assume there is one) for cracks or burned spots. This is a shot in the dark but if it used to work but now doesn't...

Also check wiring under the slides to make sure nothing has come unplugged. There should be one or more electrical junction boxes under there. I've heard of wiring pulled loose in these boxes when the wiring hung up when the slide was being moved. This is not likely your problem but I don't know how all the wiring is routed so maybe...

jallison,

Sounds like a bad converter, haven't had a problem on my Monty. Did have one go out on a Prowler TT. It was in the summer while in Belle Vista, Ark. Luckily had a dealer in Springdale that aggreed to sell me one on a sunday even though the parts department was closed. Nothing on the 120V system would work, only on 12 volt system. Doesnt take long to run down a battery unless you switch the fridge to gas. Hope this will help.

Don't think they could be on a GFIC circuit, do you? Look for a "popped GFCI.

VanMan makes a very good point. There's the GFCI breaker on the outlet by the bathroom sink. Some models have another in or near the kitchen.

I thinkI have found the problem. Went to Magnetek (converter Manufacture) web site. They had a couple of tests to try the converter is all right but the charging unit is bad. Found out they have an upgrade converter model so I am going to buy the upgrade.
Thanks again for your suggestions and the information on the crack I'll be getting in touch with Keystone
Thaks
