Seland Toilet

Hello everyone just another comment on the Sealand toilet, I've been having the same troble as most. It wouldn't hold water. I took it apart three or four times, working with the seal and the flush ball. It seems my spring unit doesn't bring the flush ball back to closed position fully. I called Sealand and of course the two year warrenty is just up by a few months. Still the agent said as long as I could do the labor they would send the parts, spring unit, flush ball and the seals. I told them that as a club member we all aprecaited thier standing behind their product. I will email them when the parts get here. They are sent out of Ohio. Its been only two days, she said if the parts don't come within two weeks to call back and they will handle the problem on thier end. Thanks for listening. Randye

Here is a thought. Take the unit apart and notice that black shaft with the two "O"rings on it. When I took the "O" rings off and put the shaft into the hole it would bind and not work smooth. I put that shaft into my electric drill and using fine sandpaper worked on the shaft, without the "O" rings on it. After turning it down until it freely rotated when installed without the rings, I reinstalled the whole unit and it works without any more problems. .02

Randye,
Wait for the kit. This is a known problem with the Sealand toilet and the kit "USUALLY" fixes the problem.

In the meantime, what I did that worked, take you toe and just lift up on the foot flush level slightly. It closed the ball for me and would keep water in.

If that does not work, here is a tip on how to eliminate any smell that may come up when there is no water in the bowl. Take a Zip Lock baggie, gallon size or bigger, and partially fill it with water. Set it in the bowl agains the ball. When you need to use the facility, take the bag out and place it in the small waste basket, and when finished using the facility, put it back in the bowl.

Should hold you until you get the parts.

Thanks for the advice: I have tried everything, except the shaft in the drill, it worked for 2 and a half years. How would the shalf swell up after that amount of time? Anyway the parts should be here any day now. We are lucky we don''t have any smell coming from the unit.

Make sure you get the seals from them. They are 50.00 at the RV store. Jesse James had a gun.

Just called sealand. seal kit is $35. person said that the reason some fail to hold water is that the user lets the pedal up slowly rather than letting it snap back by just removing foot from lever. Said that is the way it is designed to work....

35 bucks is a good deal. I called three places and they all said 50.00. Unless sealand is 35 plus 15 shipping.

Also, be careful what you use to clean the bowl. Certain cleaners will harm the seal, causing them not to hold water. Sealand sells a cleaner that will not harm the seals, you should be able to get it at your RV store. Kerry

Hi all My parts came in I replaced the flush-ball and shaft and spring unit and seals. Works like new, parts were free to keep us happy. They said warrenty was pasted the two yrs, by four months. I let them know we at Montana Owners Club appreciates it when a company stands behind their product. thanks.
