With the front cap design of the newer 5ers the wind deflectors is totally worthless. Well not exactly, it will keep some of the bugs off.
Are the numbers you are referring to the model numbers such as your 3575RL?
If that be the case the answer is simple. They are MODEL numbers only. Nothing more nothing less. The 3475, 3400, 3485, 2955, 2980, etc mean nothing more than a MODEL number. They have nothing to do with length or square footage of the rig PREIOD.
However the letters do have a meaning...

Dave,
I'm a little late with my response but I think you've gotten the picture. Some people swear by the deflectors and others, like me, say don't spend the money. I used one for two years of full timing five years of occasional camping before then and discovered that there was no difference in mileage with or without it. About all it did was deflect the bugs and keep them off the front of the 5th wheel and/or pull trailer. I ended up throwing it in the trash dump. It was in good shape too--almost new but I couldn't give it away.

A few years back Bill Farrel, Trailer Life Tech Expert, did an article about setting up the TV for max use. He listed the Deflector as #100 of the top 100 upgrades to the truck. He explained that it had the LOWEST return on the DOLLAR.
He rated as the MOST BANG for the BUCK was COMFORTABLE replacement SEATS!

Dersequim, welcome back. Haven't seen you on here in a long time!
What I remember from one of those tests that it helps a little only if you get exactly the right angle for your particular truck and fifthwheel combination. Any other angle actually caused more resistance and lower mileage.
