The big plug

Why or how-come this happened to my power cord plug.
The plug blade that color is the black lead seemed to get hot enugh to melt the rubber where the flat blade projects out of the plug and it also changed the color of the brass blade so I know it had to be hot, and swell the rubber on the plug enugh to not allow it to go all the way in the reciptal at the service tower. I'll have two pictures in a minute or two from Tiny-piks but I have to enter and download them first, Be right back.

OK there they are. I have sence changed to a new yellow plug with the pull handle from CW. I just want to prevent this from happining again.

Two things come to mind -

The pedestal receptable has a damaged or weak contact on that terminal and is not quite making contact with the spade on your plug. As a result, it would sit there arcing and generating heat.

or

Your overloading that 30A. Breakers typically require a rapid high amp, high heat load to trip. You can run them up slow and steady and they will hold well beyond 30A, even though they are overloaded. Might be time to use the 50A cord!

I did see some signs of arking on that blade so I'll go with that idea I'll have to check my conections from now on. Thanks.

I would talk to the C.G. about the female plug at the tower, I think Brad was right on, and that is where the problem lies.

I think that it could have been that too, after closer examination of the plug (top picture) I see what looks like a spark burn then traviling down, I dont want to blame my DW cause it will make her feel responsable for the problem. so I just replaced it, but I'll check the plug install from now on to make sure it is in all the way.
