Deadbolt lock?
I parked my rig at a friends house and put out all the slides. We closed the door and did not lock the door. The next day the door was found open but nothing was disturbed. My friend closed the door and tried to lock the door with the key but the key would not go all the way in for the deadbolt. The deadbolt seems to be in the lock position and the door will not open.
Can a locksmith open the deadbolt or can something be done with the key numbers?
I cannot hook up and take the trailer to a dealer since the slides are out.

Danny,
Not sure about your model, but can you go through the basement up through the laundry chute to get inside?

Sorry Danny,
I would think a locksmith could get in lickety split - they amaze me sometimes. I'm hoping someone jumps in with info on the key numbers, as I just don't know.

Danny - I know it doesn't help your current situation and I do hope you were able to get the door open, but if you need any parts for the lock, here is the source:
Fastec Industrial Corp (FIC) in Elkhart (574) 262-2505. The number is stamped on the key as far as the tumbler settings. I just broke a key and ordered new ones through thier friendly staff - they sell direct and same day out with credit card.

Danny,
Check for another switch to operate the slides near the pump. My old Montana has one, but I'm not sure if the Mountaineer does. Oh, the slides can be pumped by hand also if neccessary.

My dead bolt failed in the locked position. The only way to open the door was take it apart from the inside, drill out a couple of rivets and bent a arm that holds the dead bolt out. I have a travel trailer and had a second door to go in. It's easy if you ever get inside. Good luck.

When ours failed two years ago - in a small campground in remote Utah, I also went through the laundry door (I had to remove the screws in the hinges because we had propped the bathroom door open to prevent someone from doing the very thing I was trying to do!).
I could not get the door to open from the inside either. After some frustrating attempts, I decided to get my drill out and try drilling the lock.
Hesitant to ruin it completely I made a last ditch attempt at solving the problem by using a rag as a pad against the lock and SMACKING it with a hammer! It has worked fine ever since.
Now, though, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to replace it, after hearing it is a common problem. Guess the only thing is the question of whether or not the "new" one would be any better. I do make sure I keep the lock lubed with graphite.

I had a locksmith come out and he picked the lock.
I could not get the key to go all the way in because the pins had dropped out of place inside the lock.
After lubing the lock all seems to work fine but I will not lock the deadbolt until I get back to the dealer to see if a new lock is in order.
I'm going to be camping for a week with friends next week for our annual music jam.
