Burnt wireing???

Ok here's what happened. This morning I was a little chilly and turned on the fireplace. I noticed a strong smell and all of a sudden everything shut down in the entertainment section of our 3475 (should be the same as the 3400) I had sensed an oder before when I turned on the fireplace. We can not find and circut breakers out and Bill pulled out the fireplace. We plugged it in at another outlet and it worked fine. No odor. Trouble shooting, he found that the only place we have lost power is in the entertainment section. We know something burned but don't know where. Any suggestions?

I lost my fireplace motor, it smelled like burned plastic and popped the breaker, I think it is on it's own breaker.
The motor rotates a shaft with aluminum foil stringers hanging off of it, that reflects the light and looks like fire.
Unfortunately, it may turn out to be fire if that keeps happening.
Does the flame part work? even if it works somewhere else, it could be the fireplace, Plug a heater into the outlet for the fireplace and see if it works, (High amperage draw) could be the outlet in the wall.

Ozz, the fireplace works fine when we plug it into the kitchen outlet. The outlet for the TV, computer, etc, does not work.

Helen, is that the GFCI circuit like it is on our 3295RK? If so, in the bathroom outlet check the little push button. That's a breaker for that circuit. On some models there's another button on another outlet somewhere in the kitchen.

Because if the burning odor that we smelled before everything shut down, we have decided to let the pro's check this one our for us. We have an appointment to get a slide topper replaced on Wednesday (started ripping last February in San Diego and duct tape couldn't hold it any longer). We will plug our TV and fireplace into a different outlet until the dealer checks out the wireing. We do not like fires.......not even a chance of one. Thanks for your help.

It's a good plan not to mess with electricity. So having a professional checking it out is smart.

If your microwave does work, and you have a microwave/fireplace selection switch, I would probably turn off the microwave breaker just to be safe until you get the unit looked at.

For the record, our fireplace is on the same circuit as the Half Time Oven and in the same slide. The breaker is labeled microwave in our unit. If your microwave still works, it's probably in the wiring past the microwave/fireplace selection switch. Sounds like there may be a problem with the wires feeding the slide (there are junction boxes under our unit on the frame that feed wires on a harness out to the slide). If your TV doesnt work, it sounds like it could be damage to the wires on the slide harness. You might want to take a look. Seems to me I heard about someone with a harness that came off that they repaired.

Thanks Les. Bill has trouble shot it to the wireing under the slide. The fireplace, tv, dvd and direct tv are all plugged into the entertainment center. The computer, printer and my camera are plugged into a different outlet somewhere else in the rv. None of these work plugged in where the were but each one works perfect if we plug them in to somewhere else. That is why we feel that it is in the wires. We think that the reason we could smell it from the fireplace is because that is where a fan is and may have been blowing the oder from the hot wires.

Well another trouble shoot is always interesting,
but in my area the temp. has not been below 75° and usually is over a 100° every day. I can only dream of needing heat.
