Bed Problems

Hey Gang,

I finally got my Monty back from the shop today after a week, power converter and new tire later.
I have a queen sized mattress which is on the hydraulic shock lift plywood with the storage under the bed. The queen mattress is on the standard full size plywood which came with the trailer when brand new. The hinges where the plywood meets the bed frame came loose from the plywood which lifts with the hydraulic shocks. I tried to screw them back in with no luck because of the stripped threads. So tonight Leon and I went and purchased a piano hinge which goes all the way across the plywood. We have it screwed on but something tells me we are going to have more problems in a short time. Call t been there done that intuition.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the best solution?

Thanks in advance!
Phil

We had the same problem with ours. To cure it I installed a 1x2 strip of wood below the plywood to strengthen the wood so the screws wouldn't strip out. So far it has held up for us.

Our first Montana had that problem right after we bought it. The dealer fixed it with a wood strip like Larry & Roma. We only had that Montana for 18 months but we had no more problem with it.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!
