Counter top

We're due to take delivery on our 3400RL in less than two hours from Bretz RV in Missoula, MT. We already know that the counter top is damaged and we'd like some advice on what to do.

We live in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. We originally planned on staying in the Montana/Wyoming area for about a month, making sure all the systems worked. The people at Bretz say that ordering a brand new counter top and then having it shipped out here to Montana may take 6 weeks or more.

We are considering attending the owners rally in Goshen, IN in mid-September. Should we contact the factory and tell them we'll pick it up then? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Good luck with your repairs. Our experience on getting a damaged countertop replaced wasn't real positive. We had a LOT of damage to the Montana for the factory to repair including the replacement of the countertop. We had an appointment (made two months inadvance), we had them survey the damage about a week prior to our appointment and they still didn't have the countertop ready (think that it was only ordered after they started repairs). So we had to stick around for a few more days and when the factory installed it, they didn't finish the caulking and I had to pull it all out and re-do myself. One cupboard support was installed upsidedown, they cracked the support base, and they broke the faucet. In trying to get the repairs repaired, they refused to honor their 90 day warranty. Guess my advise is to make sure that you get written confirmation of what the factory will do for you and when.

Maria and Dave, you might call Keystone Customer Service and explain your situation. Then you'd find out what options there are, if any.

574) 535.2100 or (866) 425.4369 (Toll Free). Ask for Customer Service.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

If it were me, I would not accept delivery of that coach. If Bretz is telling you 6 weeks to get it fixed and you are able to wait, have them order you a new 3400RL w/ the same options you ordered. Should take 6 - 8 weeks to get a new one built. Once you hand over the money, all the power is now in their hands, not yours. Just a thought....

In reference to your damaged counter top, what is the damaage? On delivery of our 2955 there was damage to the counter top. Thank goodness it was not busted or torn loose. The damage was about half way between the faucet and the edge. It looked as if someone had dropped a tool on it and knocked out a hunk of what they cover the counter top out of.

The options were to try to patch it or get a new counter top. We decided that replacing the counter top was out of the question. If it was busted up or real bad damage, Yes, I would have gone for the replacement. But ours was with the "Patch Kit

Jim Fisher, Manager of SunCoast RV in Pinellas Park, Fl. where we bought our unit said he could patch it with one of the kits. He did a fantastic job. Unless you get right down on top of it, after we point out where the damage was, you can not see it. The color matches perfectly.

Might be a little expensive to get Jim to come and fix it for you, but it can be done. Good Luck with your repairs. If possible stay away from the replacement. Them just never seem to turn out right. IF the damage is more than you can accept on their word to replace it, pass it up and get a different one. As stated above, once your pay for it and accept it, Now IT IS YOUR PROBLEM. Let us know the outcome.
