Portable Vehicle Shelter

We full time and last summer we got nailed in Colorado with hail. Insurance will go up if I file a claim so we are living with dents. A thought, has anyone tried to protect their TV with a portable shelter, sometimes called a canopy carport? Its basically a four to six to seven foot legs with a polyethylene cover. Some are ten feet wide by twenty feet long and nine feet in height. Weight is around 120 lbs. My first concern is the cover. I don't know what polyethylene is but I know our cover on our screen porch lasted a year then tore itself apart. Any ideas, suggestions or forget about it because the truck is already dinged up? Its really the windows I'm trying to protect. Thanks for your input...be safe out there.

Don't think I would care to drag a cover and poles around with me.

Hail damage should be coverage by comprehensive vice collision. I would not expect your insurance to cost more over a comprehensive claim.

Ive used comprehensive before with no rate increase. Why have it and not use it? You'll lose twice when you go to sell it.

Throw a carpet style door mat over the windshield during storms.
