Ceiling fan wiring
Hi all! I'm replacing the ceiling fan on my 2020 3855BR due to the motor failing on the original. I took the original down and stupidly didn't take a picture of how the wires are hooked up. The replacement motor is the same, with a blue, white, and yellow wire. Coming out of the ceiling are two whites, a red, and a green. I think the blue fan wire goes to the red ceiling wire and the yellow fan wire goes to the green ceiling wire and I tried both the whites from the ceiling to the white wire on the fan, but that didn't seem to work, and now also a few of my dinette lights don't work. It's on the same circuit as the vent fans and thermostat, which DO work. Wondering if anyone has any advice I can try. Thanks in advance!

I would guess the two whites out of the ceiling would go together with the white into the fan. If that doesn't do it you will need to break out the volt ohm meter and test the wires as someone operates the switches.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look tomorrow. The instructions that came with the fan were definitely written by someone with a loose familiarity with English.

Hey @ DutchmenSport, there doesn't appear to be a black wire coming out of the ceiling like in the video. I've checked the connections and they seem good. The dinette lights seemed to be using the green wire and one of the whites as a ground, and I've got them working again. It looks like the power at the fan is the same as at the switch, but the fan's not turning on. The switch also used to make a little click when you pushed the reverse direction button, but it doesn't seem to be doing that anymore either. I'm fairly confident I've got the wires hooked up the way they were originally, and have tried most every combination of color matching, just in case. I'm not much of an electrician, so troubleshooting this is not my strong suit and I may have to call an RV repair technician to come look at it, but it really seems like it should be pretty simple.

I wanted to add some pictures, in case someone has seen this before. The switch box only has two wires coming out of it, and two into it. The fan has three wires coming out. There are four wires coming out of the ceiling, two of which are white and apparently have to be connected to each other for my dinette lights to work, even though they're on a different circuit.
The instructions indicate that there should be a green wire from the fan going to a green wire on the switch, but there is no green wire on the switch. There is a green/yellow wire on the fan, and there's a green and white pair coming out of the ceiling, but the green side of the pair isn't terminated here, so I don' think it's part of anything related (the white wire paired with this green wire has to be connected to another white wire for my dinette lights to work).

For anyone following along, it is working now. Initially I had only replaced the motor, as that appeared to be what was failing, but it seemed like in addition to the motor stalling out and grinding, the switch wasn't passing enough current, as when testing the output it was significantly lower than the input. Replacing the switch fixed it.

Was the Fan 12 Volt or 120 V?
