Possibly Moving from 2005 to 2015 ?

Our 2005 2955RL has been a GREAT trailer. Did some suspension upgrades over the years, the wife keeps the inside immaculate, not one nail hole any place. We are proud of it. But it may be time to even enjoy our travels more with a new Montana. Saying that, we had some free time so we went to our local dealer and inside the show room was a 2015 3791RD! OMG I couldn't believe what I was seeing. When my wife gets excited, I know things are getting serious. Has anyone seen this 5 slide monster? Almost 42' long, so it is 8 feet longer and has 3 more slides than our current trailer, have things changed in 10 years!

For you more current owners, I asked about the roof and the salesman said it was "Vinyl"? Is this true, if so what ever happened to the "rubber" roofs like EDPM I think?

Of the five slide I think two for sure are the traditional hydraulic sliders like we have now, the others are some type of cable/electric mechanism with rollers? Is this good, do they work well? He stated that this cable type slider comes in straighter and seals better is this true?

I got out and under the trailer and was pleasantly surprised to see the enhanced shackles and Morryde suspension, that I upgrade years ago because of extreme wear not being able to grease. The Morryde pinbox was nice to see too.

Tell me about the 6 point automatic leveling system. It is standard on this trailer, does it really work? What about reliability? It is a Lippert Product?

Lastly, the financial aspect. The trailer is listed at $62494.00. I know there is a lot of wiggle room with these numbers. The salesman told us it could put us in this trailer for about $40,000 with my 2005 in trade. Now be honest folks, does this sound like it is in the ball park for a good deal or not?

As far as I know they are still putting rubber roofs on the Monty's and there have been a few problems with staples coming up. There have also been some problems reported with the cable slides, but they've been in use for some time now. Level up is a Lippert product and is great and problems have been reported, but they are rare.

Don't know if the new monty has cable slides or not but my 2008 Raptor had cable slides and they did not close as tight as this 2005 monty 3650rk I just purchased. Made quite a few changes in the Monty got it the way we want it, the raptor was 42 ft triple axle we used to take toys getting too old and love this monty read up on your new model on the board you will find lots of issues with the new ones

The bedroom slide on our 3800 is very long (king bed, night stand, my closet, and separate washer and dryer cabinets)...uses the cable system...closes and opens straight...no issues. The level-up system is fantastic...no issues. As long as your tv can really handle this monte, it should be a good deal at that price. I don't like the idea of stairs at both ends of the monte...but you will get your exercise with it. John

Bob, don't forget you'll probably need to upgrade your TV since that monster looks like 17K gross so pin will be in the 4K range depending on how many options you include.

Wow that is one fine looking model, just not sure the extra stairs would be right for us either. That would be one huge upgrade for you as we can remember when we upgraded from the 2955 to a 3400 model and couldn't believe the extra space we seemed to have. We were all smiles.

You will never regret the level up and the cable slide systems have been out long enough that they should be just as reliable as hydraulic. Our unit has a cable bedroom slide and it's just fine.

We have cable slides on the bedroom slide of our 2015 and they are smooth and reliable, 6 point Level -up??? best thing to come along since Bump outs ,LOVE IT,Yes they have rubber roofs like Everybody else and I do not have problems with staples coming out And Also if you can get one for 62K JUMP ON IT!! ,Mine was 70K with all the goodies except double pane windows and Full body paint,I live on the West Coast so they cost about 2K more for shipping from Indiana and like was said before you better have a Big Boy Rig to haul that thing ,MY 2015 3735MK weighs in at 13,200 DRY and I Tow it with a 2003 Chevy 3500 Dually Duramax and I am a little overweight,AND one more thing if you buy one DO NOT drive off the lot with those ST E rated Trailer King tires on that beast

We looked at one this month too and it was pretty impressive - especially the storage. Depending on what options it has, I'd say that's a pretty good deal. We looked at one for 69K, though the dealer said he was flexible. Either way, you are essentially paying his list and getting 22K for a 10 year old camper, or something in between. That sounds pretty good to me.

We were extremely impressed when we finally got to see that model in person. But I immediately realized that I would have to upgrade (at least DRW) my TV so that was a deal killer for us right now.

My small bedroom slide has the cable system and so far it works well. As far as the level up I wouldn't have another FW without it. The difference amount you posted is probably getting you right "in the ballpark".

I have a small bedroom bed slide, cable, no issues. That system has been out since about '04 or so, the bugs are worked out. The cable system leaves the under bed area clear and makes the storage area a EXCELLENT place to store the DW craft stuff. The storage area is huge. I would not want it on a large slide.

Lippert 6 pt level system works as advertized. Make the dealer install a qt or 2 of the CAT fluid in it for the popping in cool weather. As others said, it is a must have option.

Require the dealer install G rated tires or upgrade tires and wheels to 17.5". The OEM tires are a must replace item.

You WILL need more truck.

The dealer sales rep told us that Keystone went with the cable slide system in the bedroom because it takes up less space than the hydraulics and thus one had more storage space under the bed. The Lippert 6 point level-up system is great. Within 30-45 seconds the unit is level by just pushing one button. If you want to manually override, it can easily be accomplished. Wouldn't have another 5th without it. As far as the 3791RD, it is a very appealing and unique floor plan, however; you sacrifice storage cabinet space in the living area to get more basement storage. For us, we prefer compartmentalizing the small stuff in the overhead cabinets, plus the interior accessibility that cabinets have far outweighs having more exterior storage. I agree with others that the roof is still EDPM rubber. Regarding price, there were 3 wholesale dealers in MI, all within about $250 from each other when we ordered our 2013 and all were significantly better in price than anything west of them. It's now 2 years later and things could have changed, but they were all knowledgeable and IMO, were forthright. I know we're encouraged to buy locally, but really, we spend 5-6 months on the road, question then becomes, what is the definition of local? We used CW in Ft. Myers, where we winter, to handle the warranty issues and they were great. Most of those issues were minor. Message here is, shop around, but in the end, you have to be comfortable with your needs and where to purchase.
