Hey all, the monty I just bought has a sticker by the dorr that says arctic package what does that do for the unit anybody know

Not A lot like most other SOB's enclosed underbelly,with thin foil insulation ,heated ducking that blows into the underbelly to keep the tanks and lines from freezing some have heated pads on the tanks,but it seems to work pretty good for me anyway in the NW but if you get down to below 30 or so I get the heated fresh water hose plugged in as well AND keep the propane furnace on at night to 55 or so something I would not do in more moderate weather I would just use the electric heat

It is more sales hype than anything. The units are equipped with "fully" enclosed bottoms, they have a thin insulating material above the enclosed bottom and some insulation around the tanks. There is a 2" flexible hose off the furnace that enters the space between the floor and the bottom and supplies "some" warm air from the furnace to this vast area.

Artic package Phoooey they don't even bother to use electric tank heaters as did my previous SOB. Go where it is warm, stay well away from the arctic....

It means your camper probably won't freeze in Arctic Alabama and not much more.

I guess I'll chime in and be the voice of opposition on this one. I camped in steady 25* weather during deer season in mid November. Night time temps were below 20*. My water tank was not full as this was the last hurrah if you will. The furnace kept the tanks from freezing. I did have a close call-I used the fireplace one evening and when I used the water, noticed reduced flow. I shut the fireplace down and the next morning, water flow was normal. It isn't perfect, but it does make a difference. My old 5ver froze up in milder temps than this. It had a belly cover, but that's all.

We have been in 9 degree weather with our 2004 and nothing froze. The newer units will do even better

Put me down on the side that it makes a difference. Before we were able to completely go full time we did camp in fairly cold weather without problems. A heated water hose was all we added.

Add us to the list of it does a pretty good job...we have spent the last 3 winters in the northeast including last year when we endured consistent temps well below zero for weeks at a time and we were fine. Note that we also skirt around the trailer frame and run small electric heaters in the basement but we have had no issue.

This year since we will be leaving in a couple of weeks to head to AZ we did not skirt the bottom and so far we have been very comfortable and have had no issues and the temps have gotten as low as 10 degrees so far.

What I did this past summer in prep before winter was to get under the rig and seal up any little gap or hole with silicone and/ or silicone tape to reduce the cold drafts and also to help keep critters out.

We are drifting south and are presently in Tennessee. It was 29 degrees this morning, but in the past month in Illinois we have had temperatures much colder on and off.

What I have noticed with this new unit is that the furnace duct that goes into the underbelly must work pretty good because the living room floor is pretty cold until the furnace kicks on and then it warms the floor nicely.

We keep a ceramic heater in the basement so the bathroom floor and part of the bedroom floor is always toasty warm.

I thought I read somewhere that either the Artic Package, or Full Timer Package came with added insulation in the ceiling. I could be wrong though.
