Wet Bolt Installation Cost
For those of you who did not install them yourself, how much did it cost you to have the Mor-Ryde Wet Bolt Kit installed? We have an 07 3400RL with 7000lbs axles and I have been quoted $490 by an RV service center in the area.
The guy said that they had done a few of them in the past. But when I first asked how much it would cost to have a Mor-Ryde Wet Bolt Kit installed he said that he would have to check with his service manager and call me back...I could tell that he did not know what I was talking about. Then when he called back he said that he was confused by the term Wet Bolt, he said that he knew them by the bolts that you can shoot grease into. He quoted me a price without asking what the axle capacity was? I don't know if he looked it up or not, but 07 was the year they changed from 6000 to 7000 lbs axles.
I am waiting on a call from the service center where we purchased the Montana from to see what the price difference will be. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

We paid about $500.00. We replaced the axles with Dexter Axles and the wet bolt kit. I think others have paid less but in our area was the best we could find. I think someone wrote that they where on sale now and installation free from the factory if you where in that area. Hope this helps.

I had mine installed at a Montana dealer here in Mesa, AZ. If I am not mistaken the whole thing including parts was $300.

My 08 3400Rl is in the with our local Montana dealer today for the installation of the Mor/ryde wet bolt & shackle kit. The dealer estimated 2 1/2 hrs labor at $95 per hour. Mor/ryde told me they charge 2 hours labor. I'll let you know what it actually is.

MOR/Ryde installed our wet bolts at a cost of $153.29 for parts and labor of $207, which also included installation of the crossmember kit ($160.00). We also had our alignment checked at the same time for a labor cost of $69.00.

J. Keith Warner - Wet bolts consist of heavy duty shackles, nuts, bolts and zerk fittings for your trailer's suspension - look under the trailer at the ends of the trailer's leaf springs and you will probably find the factory shackles (dry bolts). They are called wet bolts because they also have zerk fitting you can squirt some grease into to prevent as much wear and tear inherent in the dry bolt/shackle system. Even with a MorRyde suspension they can be installed. They help lessen wear and tear where you still have shackles.
In my case, after only 30 months of ownership I had a couple of shackles where the bolt holes were severely out of round. I had my RV dealer replace them and since I knew nothing about this it cost me $1,000 - I am still not happy I paid that much knowing what I know now and it DID NOT include the MorRyde, just shackles and bolts. But I had this done in Southern California when times were good, California is over-priced and money was no object. (I can't believe I just said that.)
To me your $490 price sounds great (less than 1/2 what I paid) but pay attention to the other members on what they paid and where they are located - labor charges can vary state to state. It doesn't sound like the RV place you mention has done them too much - "bolts you can shoot grease into", that's laughable. I'd compare the price they gave you by doing a web search for these kits. You might want to call other RV service centers to listen how they talk to you about them and quote you then use this to get a better price. There are some things they need to know when installing these like aligning the zerks correctly and newbies will probably screw that up.

Fire5er,
We had ours installed around the first of the year for $180 plus tax for a total of $195. I had it done at JR's RV Repair and Rebuild in Sedro Woolley, WA (360)854-9722. Another MOC Member, zman08, recommended them to me after having his done there and I was completely and totally satisfied. I see you are over in Port Orchard but if you get over this way with your rig I would give them a call. Here is a link to their website: JR's RV.

Thanks to all for the info. I still haven't heard back from our dealer yet. Hope they come in more around what other have posted here.
Jackel1959, Sedro Woolley is a little far for me because I do not want to pay for the ferry so we would have to drive around...but that is a great price and I will keep it in mind. It just may pay for me to drive up your way though.

I had mine done at home. Labor cost was $0 and carries my lifetime unconditional 100% money back guarantee!
I found out that two of the bolts weren't drilled through.

I know.....the cost of the round trip ferry crossing is very "cost prohibitive". Combined rig and truck length around 60' and driver plus passenger is about $122 round trip. It probably would be cheaper to drive around if you decided to go that route. Hopefully, like you say, your dealer will come in with a price more in-line with what has been posted here.
