Dog Tie Outs on LevelUp Legs

For those of you that travel with pups, here is a way of keeping them close by. I put these eye bolts on the legs so I can put their leashes through a caribiner and clip them here. I have a set on both the front and rear jacks so they can lay under the rig. For a couple of years, I would have to reach further under there to clip the dogs through the holes with a large caribiner and was made difficult if my dogs were pulling trying to get under the camper. So, I came up with this. An eye bolt with a jam nut on the front ahead of a washer and a washer, lock washer and nylon locking nut on the back. Overkill I know, but I like 'em.

Great idea. We have our first 5th wheel and I was wondering where I could mount an eye bolt for our puppy's tie out. My wife and I raise puppies for Leader Dogs for the Blind and we always camp with our pups. https://www.facebook.com/Future-Lead...5594483672228/

Nice setup, just don't do as Chevy Chase did in "Vacation".

No problem there. They are always warming or cooling in the truck Plus, they are never near the camper while it is leveling itself.

This is how I tie our dogs out, except I made tie outs from flexible nylon rope with a carabiner on one end. I got tired real quick of trying to coil up the cable tie outs for storage. Now if someone can just figure out how to keep two dogs from entangling themselves when tied out together.

Put one of the eyebolts through the hitch at back of 5r. Keep the pups apart.

Great idea. Nice looking Snap Pads ! Received ours last week. Just waiting on a warm day to install them. Our first mod on our new FW.

Mine is in the driveway....I measured the holes to be a bit over 1/2".

Are you SURE 1/2" is large enough?!

I use a length of rope with a steel swivel eye bolt snap hook on each end. One hook for the dog's collar and the other hook snaps into a hole on the level up.

Similar to what I use: https://www.amazon.com/Lehigh-7000-1...dog+leash+clip

I used 1/2"bolts with a nut and washer on the front and washer, lock washer and nylon locking nuts on the back. A bit overkill, but I have two 70 pound Aussie/Heelers.

I have a 120 lb Rottweiler/Shepard cross, but she is getting old and is laid back, but if she sees a rabbit look out as she goes into chase mode.

I install an eye bolt on our rig today....the hole is slightly over 1/2", but I used an eye bolt that is 3/8" plus a couple of fender washers and a nut on each side. I used 3/8' as it's easier to attach the clasp that is on our dog's tie-out.

For people who use the leash or one of the tie outs, that's a good idea. The reason I went with the 1/2" is for one, the hole in the leg was a little bigger and two, we use huge D-rings to clip into the eye bolts and then their leashes clip in the D-rings. We've used the D-rings on our step bracket for the last 7 years, but it was always a pain to try and get under the steps each time we hooked/unhooked them. Our dogs love to walk the campground and we were constantly changing, so I came up with this to help save our backs. Glad you guys modified it to suit your needs. I always like sharing ideas.
