Tried Level Up....Doesn't seem right

Tried the Auto Level today. Don't know why...but I was nervous about trying it. Worked fine to level.

What seemed strange. ..when I tried to have it return to hitch height...it raised the front before retracting the rear jacks. I got worried..aborted it...raised the rear jacks and put it to hitching height manually.

Is this your experience..from all jacks down....the system then, to get to hitch height, raises the front while rear jacks are still down????

Id screw up my old TT by raising the front while rear jacks were down......

The system remembers were you left the hitch when unhooking the Montana it will of course be higher that the hitch. When you press the left right switch it will return the camper to the unhitch position. It was working normal.

Since I unhitch higher than I want to hitch up I always do it manually. If I have to raise the front much at all, I raise the rear ones off the ground. If I'm dropping the front I don't bother.

We manually raise and once hitched, auto retract.

As the front jacks extend it removes pressure to the rear jacks.

What yours did is normal. Ours has done that for 3 1/2 years with no problem.

I did not know this. Whenever I have to raise the front to hitch up I always manually retract the rear and center legs so as not to put too much pressure on those rams or the frame of the trailer. I also looked at the owners manual and website and did not see anything about it "removing pressure to the rear jacks". That is another feature that is nice to know. -Glenn

I called support today just to confirm. Was told the center jacks remain in place and act as a sort of center lever....the rear jacks do release a bit. Bottom line: It was behaving as designed. I will trust it and try it again this weekend. (Well kinda trust it...I will have DW hit keys to return to hitch height....I will be feeling rear jacks to see if they indeed retract some. As someone I deeply respect said back in the 80's "trust but verify....")

Been doing the auto thing since June 0f 2012 and all is well.

Just shows what any of these support people on the phones knows. On the Lippert system, the two front jacks are plumbed together, the center and rear jacks, left side are plumbed together as are the right side. So, it is just like one jack in the front and one each jack on the left rear and right rear. When you have all the jacks down, and raise the front of the rig, the fluid flows from the rear jacks to the center jacks, and the fluid goes in the other direction when you lower the front of the rig. When the rig is being leveled, either in auto mode or manually, when you raise one side or the other, the fluid in the two front jacks moves from one side to the other, just like the rear jacks. This, all to say, you can safely have all the jacks down and raise or lower the front without worry of damaging the rear jacks.
