Landing gear

2012 3400. Passenger side landing gear isn't raising or lowering. All weight on drivers side to lift. Is this something I can fix. I looked quickly and couldn't see an obvious access to the leg.

The curb side legs are easy to remove while your fiver is still hooked to your truck. Take the bolt out of the driveshaft and the two bolts out of the frame mounts inside your propane compartment. The leg will simply pull out the bottom. Sometimes you'll have to remove the leg extension prior to removing the leg itself depending on terrain. There was a "sticky" on the workings of the leg itself, but I can't find it. Assuming your legs are manufactured by Venture ... here's a link to an exploded view.

PS Make sure it isn't something as simple as the bolt in the cross shaft has sheared before you remove the leg.

Check the shear pin before anything else. you have a round shaft connecting to a square tubing. There should be a pin at either end of the square shaft between 2 and 6 inches in from the end. The shear pins are basically 1/4 x20 bolts..

Had the same problem. A 1/4 bolt fell out of the drive shaft at the back of the motor. replaced bolt with a nyloc nut so I don't loose it again.

I'm kind of late to this topic but I had the same thing happen when at the Central Plains Rally only on the street side. On mine the 1020-08 Spirol Pin on the drawing dieselguy provided had fallen out. Could tell as the shaft through the leg was turning but the bevel gear was not. Rondo had a rebuild kit with the Spirol Pin. Lucky for me the slot in the gear was at about 10 o'clock position so I could insert a punch and had someone bump the switch until the punch lined up with the hole in the shaft. Once aligned just drove the roll pin in. Jim
