Thermostat problems

My AC shuts off and sometimes won't come on...the furnace runs until you shut it off. I have a duo therm Dometic analog thermostat in a 2004 Mountaineer. I am looking at replacing the thermostat and control box in the ceiling. What do you think, should this be a fix? Sometimes the AC does throw the breaker, but not often. Any help appreciated...

I replaced the thermostat in my old mh with a digital from Lowes

Roy, it does seem to be a thermostat problem, I would try a 'hard reset' first, shut off the breaker to the A/C unit, and pull the 12 volt fuse to the furnace, wait a few minutes, then turn the breaker on and replace the 12 volt fuse.
See how that works, might save some $$ and work.
