Norcold recall

I had the recall for the 1200 series fridge. After a year the module went bad and shut down it down. You have to have a authorized dealer install the new module. What a pain. I had to bypass it until the dealer comes puts a new module on.

The reason for this recall is that the temp sensor/controller fails to shut down the ammonia heater at high temp. Bypassing it is a huge no-no!
This malfunction has caused catastrophic fires. Again, bypassing the heater control module is a huge no-no

Our module failed in well less than a year. I phoned a mobile service fellow and because of the recall he had one in stock and fixed it the same afternoon.

My module was a simple unplug the old and plug in the new one. I would be very wary of bypassing it, it is a safety feature and fires have been the result of it not working properly.

I will add that on my 3402RL the sensor was in such a position that if I washed the unit water could get sprayed onto the module which destroys them, I have now covered mine with a heavy plastic bag per the repair chap's suggestion.

Good news, it was the module, but it was under warranty. Just cost me the service charge. I will probably get a surge protector that protects the whole rig. Also taking the suggestion of covering it with plastic. Thanks you all.

Just figured out last weekend that the double fridge is not cooling at all in our 2013 Montana 3455. I have looked up the Norcold Model and 1210 is on recall, though our serial number does not fall within the parameters. Anything simple we could be doing wrong or just assume it's a warranty issue and take it in?
