electric awning power problem

After a month of it working, our electric awning has either very, very low power or none at all and just pings when activated. I've dry lubed the hinges and visually checked the wiring, but have not used my multimeter on it yet. If it were you, how would you check the wiring using this device?

Specifically, we are on shore power and battery is charged. Checked fuse panel and it appears all are working, but can't really tell which fuse or circuit breaker controls the awning from the jumble of labels listed.

Overall, it baffles me why it won't work without me helping it along for the closing and opening processes. Any suggestions.

Current loss to the motor, or problems with the motor itself are the first things I would check.

Motor investigation is on my list to troubleshoot. How might one approach it?

Don and Mary-- YOu have a 2012 unit and it should still be under warranty, so I would be contacting Keystone customer service and see what they have to say OR take it into your dealer and see what he says. I'd contact Keystone first just to see what they have to say and if they have any recommendations.

Yes, if it's under warrenty let them fix. But sometimes getting it to them can be a problem.

We had the same problem, it was the motor. We had a service tec. (Dometic approved) to check it out. It was under warranty so replaced it, all we had to pay was the service call $35.00, worked out great for us.

Agree, sometimes it's cheaper to pay for a Service Call vs the Fuel and inconvienience of getting to a Service Center. This past winter had a replacement Level-up Jack sent to a Dealer near the Resort and only had to pay for the Mobile Service Tech charge, jack was covered. Didn't want to pickup everything a take the Montana to the Dealer and wait. Was worth it for us.

Thanks for the replies. Appears that the problem is more common than what one might guess. I will call a tech, because going back to the dealer is the greater of two evils. Just didn't want to overlook something simple, which DW reminds me that I sometimes do.
