Furnace

Our Furnace on the 3400RL seems exceptionally LOUD when it comes on? I would say twice as loud as in the 295RKS if not more. And then there is the Roar of the Bathroom vent when you open the Door I use to think it would be great to have a vent in the Bathroom, Now Not so much. Any thoughts?

Also It only seams to stay on for two to three minutes and then shuts off.

Thanks George

I haven’t noticed any difference between our old one (3295RK 2001) and the (3400RL 2007) we have now. It seems to be about the same when I think about it.

My furnace is loud as well on my 3400 RL
I haven't used it but once, when we were on the road. We use electric heat.

Sample of what our furnace was / is doing. Temp set at 70 or 63 doesn't matter
On Off
8:14 8:19
8:23 8:28
8:33 8:38
8:42 8:47 etc, etc

Took it in to the dealer this morning They turned it on to 70* and it ran till they turned it off.
I went to pick it up, Tested it my self at 70* and then at 65* Came on and stayed on till I turned it off.

Now get this, Got home set everything back up Went in about n hour later turned the furnace on and #^%@$! On off every 4 to 5 minutes as before.

Were full timing and on 50amp power. And I think there lyes the problem. It did not do it for them because they did not plug it in. So it was running off the batteries. So Now when I get home and plug it back in, It starts up again. So now they should know what to look at. I hope.

Jim, how many btu's is that electric heater? Looks like a great way to go. Does that heat the whole trailer?

That is strange. Try this, turn it on, set the heat as high as it will go, see if it short-cycles then.

Dave, I will get you the info on it. I bought it from Grainger's.
It will heat the whole unit, depending on the outside temp. It has a very quiet axial fan, you can't even hear it running. It's 120 volt, 15 amps on high, here is the Amazon listing:

No, it just blows out in front. I am 4' from the heater here on my couch and I can feel the warm air from it blowing.(It was 50 degrees when I came down here this morning..BBrrrr.)
I have it on, and the fireplace, in 1/2 hr. I will have to turn the Dayton heater on low.

George, I suggest you pull the fiberglass enclosure off (by the furnace and heater area) Check to see if all the small flex pipes are attached, and nothing has sucked into the return on the furnace. Take photo's of it and post them so I can see them if you can.

Sorry I Havent given an update but here it is. I got into the basement and checked the flex pipe all looked good no holes and all connections looked good, did not find any thing blocking anywhere. Forgot to take a picture sorry Ozz. The good news is The tech came back out on Monday and replaced a switch on the heater. The Bad news, that dident fix it. So now were waiting to see what they are going to do next.

We do not notice that problem at all. The RV furnace is louder than say the one in our S&B because we ar a lot closer to the furnace and fan in the RV. If we stand within a few feet of our home furnace and fan it is loud.We are always within a few feet of the RV furnace and fan.

George, have you visited any other owners with a 3400RL to listen to theirs?
Turn the thermostat up as high as you can to see if it is out of calibration, see if it stays on then. When it stays on three minutes, is it kicking out heat? Did it work when the tech tried it after the part replacment?

No We don't know anyone else with a 3400RL

Yes if you turn the Thermo to 99* the heater stays on as long as you let it run, we turned it off after 30 minutes the first time and 50 minutes the second time we tried it. I have turned the thermo off and then pressed the Mode and Zone switch while turning it back on and the FF shows up on the screen until you let go of the buttons. That resets it at least thats what I read.
Yes it kicks out heat the cycle seams normal. The fan kicks on then about 10 seconds later the burner kicks on and we do have heat. Then three to five minutes later the burner shuts off followed by the fan. then two to four minutes later the cycle starts all over again.
If we leave the fireplace on and it is warm in the trailer the furnace does not kick on for quite a while 30 or 40 minutes sometimes but again it only stays on for three to five minutes.
No it did not, He stuck around long enough to see it was still cycling on and off.

These furnaces cycle on and off frequently, I would try running the fan on continuously if your thermostat allows it, I don't know which one you have, and it's capabilities. If you are saying your duty cycle is 3 to 5 minutes, that is about normal...depending on the outside temperatures and your setting on the thermostat.
These furnaces are not ideal, and far from our residential units in ease of use, sound, and comfort levels.

Is it maintaining temp in the rig? Is there some sort of draft that could be affecting the thermostat? Maybe coming from the wall behind it.
