Noisy water pump
We are using fresh water tank for the first time. The pump is very noisy and occasionally comes on without our turning a spigot on. Does this mean we have a leak somewhere? Also, should the fill lever be pointed to fill (water supply is off) normal, or does it make any difference?

The "fill" position routes the water to the fresh water tank. Normal is the position used when hooked up to water source.

After filling tank, with water supply turned off, should the lever be left to "fill" or returned to "Normal"? Something is making the pump run when we are not calling for water.

If left in the "fill" position, our pump will occasionally come on when no water is being used. Set the valve to the "normal" position and that will most likely solve the problem.
If your valve is set to the "normal" position and the pump still cycles, it is either a water leak (connection or valve, possibly a toilet fill valve) or a bad check valve at the pump.
Yes, the pump can be noisy. Installing an accumulator tank and/or positioning water lines so they are not touching framing will help quite things down some.

After filling our tank with water we always return the lever back to normal. How often and for how long does the pump engage? I believe ours will do that but very infrequently and only for a short period of time but we don't run off our water tank very often and usually shut the pump off when we don't need to draw water.

Pump just turns on without water usage for a couple of seconds and not very often. I will make sure valve is returned to normal and see if that helps. I don't mind the noise as long as it is normal. We are still covered under warranty so want to get anything fixed that needs it. Only concern so far is the Norcold fridge and it seems to be freezing better. We need to make sure doors are always shut as sometimes the right fridge section door seems like it hasn't latched. Thanks for all the info.

Many of us have remounted the pump on something like a rubber pad and if the lines going and coming directly from the pump are solid (PEX) have also replaced those lines with more flexible braided lines from plumbing supplies at say Lowe's.

All of the above help some and quieter pumps are available, but for the most part you don't need to call it a noisy water pump, just water pump will tell most everyone all they need to know

Yep, as the man said, noisy water pump is a redundancy.

After filling your supply tank the valve should be placed on "Normal Flow", otherwise you will pull air into the system. I found that when my pump cycled on and off in short bursts, it was because I had air in one or more of the inside lines. I purged each faucet and toilet until there was no more air in each line. The pump quit turning on and off and would not cycle until water was used. I test for leaks from time to time by running the water pump until it shuts off. Then I turn the pump off and wait for several hours, usually overnight, and then I open a faucet to see if it has strong pressure. After test I turn the pump back on.

I answered the pump on and off, but I didn't tell you how I quieted my pump. Remove the three screws that hold the shield around the pump. Remove the 4 screws holding the pump down. Place a piece of carpet under the pump and screw the pump down with the four screws BUT do NOT screw it down tight. The pump has a vibration mount which absorbs the vibration and is supposed to quiet the pump. The installers at the factory use a preset torque screw driver which over tightens the pump mount and won't let it take the vibration. You want the screws to keep the pump from moving around and breaking water lines, but they should not be so tight that they glue the pump to the hard floor. --Good luck.
p.s. you'll need some extensions for your screw driver in order to get around and past the water lines.
