Small Gasket Tear at Slide Corner

Continuing to work on Pre Summer Maintenance and Cleaning. Just noticed a small one to two inch tear at the top corner of the exterior gasket that runs across the top of the super slide. Has anyone ever repaired a small tear? I assume the inevitable will be to replace the gasket...however, my hero is not ready to tackle that job. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Considering the damage that can occur from a water leak, and if this is not something you can do yourself, it would be worth the cost to at least have a mobile repair come out to replace the gasket. You can call around to find a decent price now instead of waiting until it's an emergency at the height of the season when you are at the mercy of anyone that is willing to make a repair at any cost.

The flapper seal on the top of the slide opening (if that's what you are referring to) is easy to replace. The flapper material has a metal encapsulated slot that simply pulls off a lip on the opening for the slide and pushes back on when replacing.

If you are talking about the bulb seal on the fascia of the slide itself ... it too is easy to replace. The bulb seal simply slides in a groove on the back side of the fascia. You may have to pry open the groove on the very end as that crimp holds the seal in the slot.

Thanks diesel guy and rohrmann for the quick responses and suggestions. After closer inspection, (had to get the taller ladder out), we see that the gasket isn't torn. Yay!

It appears there is a small rivet in the corner where the gasket is attached to the side of the trailer. Appears the rivet is bent, the gasket wrinkled and won't lay flat. Much easier fix than initially appeared. Back to finishing the slide cleaning and sealing....the AZ Sun is blazing and this may be our last cool weekend before the 100 degree days start.

Thanks again, we really appreciate the members on the MOC!
